The Captain and the First Mate by PeregrineFalconLady The Captain and the First Mate by PeregrineFalconLady

This serves as a teaser for the story I'm working on now, which is about the explorer Captain Quint Fluffycheeks and her discovery of modern-day Quintona. I wrote up a backstory that relates to this image a while back. I'll link it for reference, but it needs some serious updating: The History of Quintona

Quint Fluffycheeks and Maxine Lemonlimes hailed from the kingdom of Aussentee and lived during the late 1400s into the early 1500s. During this time period, the kingdoms of Eurantus in the northern hemisphere were sending out explorers to find trade routes or new territories to colonize and take resources from. Aussentee, despite being in the southern hemisphere and completely surrounded by water, was not intent on missing out on this exploration craze. The king and queen decided to commission two captains--one to travel east and the other to travel west. Quint and her crew were set to sail west. I'll stop there to avoid spoiling the adventure. While this story is reminiscent of the original backstory, there are many changes and there's a more complex plot.

Oh, and Quint Fluffcheeks and Maxine Lemonlimes are my birds. Maxine recently passed away, though. They don't have surnames in real life; I just gave them these for the story.

This is so adorable! The world needs more budgies in hats :-) I really like the precision of the markings, particularly the head stripes. It really adds to the illustrative feel.

I am sorry to hear that Maxine passed away recently. I currently have four budgies and also had a fifth one pass away unexpectedly too. <3

Thank you! Haha yes definitely :XD:

Aww thank you. I miss Maxine still but at least she is immortalized in my universe. I'm sorry to hear about your budgie :(

Nice story we have here about the Budgie explorers and their travels with one going east and the other going west. Both explorers are nicely drawn here, the colors are stand out great and the detail is well done too.

They both look very cute, I love this roundular style you drew them in. They're a colorful duo as well, you did a great job with the markings on Quint's wing. The story sounds very interesting too.

Thank you :D Good to know you like the markings. I'll keep up with that design because I do I like it myself.

Hmm, so the counterpart of Australia in this world was discovered long before the counterparts the Americas? Interesting, that does give a bit of an idea of how the continents might be alligned in that world. Meanwhile Eurantus... I would assume this would be an entire continent as the name sounds like Europe, but it may just be the name and in truth it is just a single state.... guess I will find out eventually.

Now, enough of that, I would say that the two budgies here, Quint and Maxine, are quite lovely. I guess that this is what I could say in any reality about them (even though it is sad that Maxine passed away recently), though you capture that rather well.

Yep; "Australia" was discovered before the "Americas" in this world. Eurantus and Austrus (the continent which Aussentee occupies the most of) sound like and are similar to their counterparts in real life. There's also Nordand and Surand (North and South America), but then you have Krudah (Africa) and Ghengu (Asia) which don't sound like their real-life counterparts. I'll have to make a map of the continents soon.

Thank you. Maxine's patterns were always difficult to get down on paper even when she was alive, so I'll have to settle for a fixed design of my own creation that was similar. The photos I have of her were a big help, though.

I really like the way you did Quint's wings. I think that's the hardest part of drawing budgies. I'm planning on re-vamping the method by which I do that for a little thing I've working on now.
This is really cute and I like that little backstory in the description. I'll give the backstory in the link a read, too.

Thanks. Yeah I think so too. I needed to find a design for the wings which was in my style, so I settled for this for now.

I only put it there for context, but you can still read it. Like I said, it needs to be updated.

I used your way in the work I posted just now. I really liked it and thank you so much for the idea. I read it last night but didn't comment there. I like the backstory and I can't wait to see the extended version you're writing.

I like your post of the budgie explorers here as well as the description about their backstory of the kingdoms sending explorers to find trade routs.

They are so cute, but Maxine has a boy's cere in this picture.  I love Quint's wing patterns.

I'm on my phone now but yeah I need to make her cere less pink. Ugh the wing patterns took forever for me to figure out. That's just a temporary design unless I decide to keep it.
