Hey guys, I'm back with some updates!
I'm excited to see dA's revamp in the news and... honestly I just miss an art community - please come say hi!
Some of you may remember the commissions push I was doing this summer after I graduated. Basically trying to supplement my income from art comms so I can pay off my student loan payments coming up. Unfortunately I wasn't able to reach enough of an audience and get enough commissions to feel safe with the upcoming bills.
I've actually been getting a lot of game art commissions that take up all of my time outside my job, but most of it is under an NDA so I have very little to share and I just look inactive.
I was offered a management promotion at work, and it was perfect timing for a guaranteed paycheck to cover my upcoming expenses. I took it, and almost 5 months later I'm realizing it was more than I could chew. Despite the difficulties of working at the busiest store of the chain in the state, I'm actually proud of my personal growth. Confidence, ability to stand up for myself/others, and general knowledge of the business.
But it's come at a great cost - my art career and my health (down 30lbs since I got the promotion)
I just don't have the time or stamina to draw, and I miss interacting. One day off a week, if that, isn't going to make that happen.
The holiday rush at work won't let me make a full instant return, but perhaps I can at least slowly start to make my way back here. I've cleared out my notifications so I can get back to seeing my friend's art and leave comments, and I'll work on replying to what I do have.
I know many artists have to do something else for a while before they can make it off their art. I'm just pushing for a gradual shift, hopefully making half of my needed income off art within 5 years. But I just feel a little stuck in a rut, like I'm wearing myself too thin and giving up my career while the student loans swallow me up. I was so inspired to see that a lot of artists for the Spyro Reignited trilogy got their spot from drawing what they love and I want to get back to that!
I have quite a number of creative ideas I want to do, just have some patience with me
The only commission types I'm offering currently are my $20 Icons
You can check the status of commissions here
It would mean a lot to me if you said hello! The best way to support me right now is by liking/commenting on my art!
I'd also be grateful if you added me on social media. It's easier to see what I'm doing and interact there.
Consider buying my art on a tshirt, bag, mug, sticker & more while it's on sale - would make an awesome holiday gift! My TeePublic
Drop me a tip and I'll draw you a thank-you sketch! My Ko-Fi
