...In other words AISC Deepspace Horizon, an orbital bombardment platform/landing troop carrier of a very significant size. Boasting a weapon system capable of relativistic velocities, it's pretty close to a "doomsday device". Further details and notes can be found in the picture for those able to read my handwriting. :D

Anyway, this is a planning sketch for my comic "Requiem: Part 2".

The energies to move between stars are huge. Ships should be scaled appropriately. :)

Do you use drafting aids for these sketches? Just curious.
Some people can draw really straight lines up to a certain length freehanded.
That's why I ask.

Not for most lines shorter lines, ruler for the longer ones. Although when I'm inking I tend to use the ruler much more than when sketching since I'm nervous about making mistakes at that point...

Thanks! :)

This is simply amazing, but also very inspiring for me! I'm writing a story where an old, derelict starship will be featured. This hunk of a badass carrier that you drew is close to what I had in mind. Very very cool <3

Nice to know you like it! Feel free to use the image if you wish, but include credits if you do so.

Thanks! :)

Hey, nice space carrier, cool to see a more realistic non-streamlined "tinker-toy" style space warship!! :) Hmm, relativistic impactor weapons and heat radiators, I suspect you've been reading the Atomic Rockets website, right? :D Wouldn't want to see this ship show up anywhere near my home star system- it has enough firepower to reduce significant areas of a planetary surface to slag and enough soldiers to occupy most colony planets.*  Does this ship have FTL, and how fast can it travel?  I see something marked "tachyon-drive generators" so I suspect that has to be the FTL engines.  And what does it have for sublight maneuvering?

*But the crew better not get too cocksure, you just know that somewhere out in the galaxy there is a world with such a fantastically twisted predatory ecosystem that they would view this entire ship as a very large refrigerator full of frozen snacks. XD

Thanks! :)

Nope, I haven't read that website though I think I'll check it out now since you mentioned it. But anyway, I made this pic for planning purposes for my comic which sort of features this spaceship: www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofi…

Currently it appears on two pages in it, I think... but it'll have a larger role later. :D

But I planned the ship itself would be a flagship of a fleet, sort of- incapable of operating without a large support fleet around it that'll make it work and cover it when it's for example closing in on a planet or some other destination. It'd take months to get it from place to place in FTL- travel which smaller ships can cross in weeks time(yeah, those marked tachyon-drives are the engines). So essentially it's a big, cumbersome piece of engineering which only works well as a part of a large fleet. But when backed up by such a fleet, it can literally blow up small planets. For sublight maneuvering I suspect it'll have some form of nuclear engine and directional thrusters of big scale, so it'll be really slow once deployed- but like said, fleet supports it.

Also, it's featured in some pics I made:

This actual reminds me of a cartoon i saw on an old VHS tape with a distress-signal in the asteroid-field which was from the 11th planet which no longer exists so they travel back in time and find out the human race came from space as colonist but there ship was destroyed. But anyway they are capture by the 11th planet people and then they escape or something like that.

But yeah, reminds me of that.

As intended! :D

But in all seriousness, the amount of energy and sheer space needed to accelerate anything to near-relativistic velocities would require absolutely massive machinery. I don't think 100 kilometres would be nearly enough for something like this, without the discovery of some "exotic materials", as they're called. But anyways, it's a comic, so I think it'll do the job quite well...
