Here's 611 leaving leman place jct to head to Strasburg for cab tours and whistle blowing. 611 is a 1950 product built in N&W's own Ronoke shops. 611 pulled various passenger trains on her short lived career on the N&W. She wrecked in 1956 by Tug River due to overspeed but wasn't badly damaged. 611 was retired in 1959 from the N&W and was spared from the scrapyard. She was first on display on the Virginia museum of Transportation in Ronoke VA. She was put into excursion service in 1982 and even ran in a triple header with Southern 4501 and N&W 1218. Her peak was 1992. She was retired again in 1994 and put back to bed in the museum until making a comeback in 2015 first being on display at the Streamliners at Spencer NC. Her voice was sadly taken away so when she was back under steam she used UP 838's whistle (I'm sorry 838's whistle does not suit 611) But before Strasburg she got her whistle from her excursion days in 1987 (Sister J class 610's) and yep you know what came next. God save the Queen

Loving image of her coming around the bend. I have a friend that calls her 'Lady' because she is a classy locomotive.
