K72 preparing to leave Bridgeport with 2 GP40-2s 3029, 3001, and GP38-2 5355. This was taken afar at Depot st due to construction next to Mill st. 3029 came as Conrail GP40-2 3328 in May 1978. Still sporting it's Leslie RS3L in fact all 3 engines have RS3Ls which were a trademark horn for Conrail. 3001 is actually on her home rails as she was built as Reading 3674 in December 1973. This section of the Harrisburg line is actually ex Reading as is the Norristown tracks across the river to the right of the camera. 3001 was renumbered to 3278 when she was acquired by conrail when the RDG merged to create the big blue. 3001 is also the oldest of the 3. As for 5355 being the odd one out. She was built in July 1978 as Conrail 8209. Putting 3 ex Conrails units all with the conrail trademark RS3L horn and have them pull ballast hoppers with Conrail still on them? What else can you ask for? This kind of catch is a conrail foamer's wet dream. All that's left is them in Conrail blue.
