Merlin "Behold! The Sword of Power! Excalibur! Forged when the world was young, and bird and beast and flower were one with man, and death was but a dream!"
Carmina Burana, one of the most epic songs ever as the main song and soundtrack to one of the most epic movies ever: www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3cXcS…
Though not actually Welsh, the Sacred and Powerful "Charm of Making" from Excalibur appears to look like an attempt at old Irish, not Welsh and is pretty botched over all, lol..... but man... I memorized it as a teen.... still love to say it, ha ha!!!
Wiki quotes on the Dragon and the sword of the dragon:
Merlin: Shall I tell you what's out there?
Arthur: Yes, please.
Merlin: The dragon. A beast of such power that if you were to see it whole and complete in a single glance, it would burn you to cinders.
Arthur: Where is it?
Merlin: It is everywhere. It is everything. Its scales glisten in the bark of trees. Its roar is heard in the wind. And its forked tongue strikes like... [lightning strikes]
Merlin: Whoa! — like lightning!! — yes that's it.
.... so here is the Charm of Making, as it appears in the film Excaliber:
" Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha."
Phonetic: anal nathrak, uthvas bethud, do che-ol di-enve.
It means in English "Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making." ..... so yea... pretty silly but it sounded epic and still does... from one of the best movies of all time.
... Yes, those are the original runes and style of the runes on the sacred, legendary sword from John Boorman's classic movie, "Excalibur" from 1981. This is one of my favorite all time movies!
There is much to share about the history writing the books, yes, books... two different authors building this legendary story, myth and characters drawing from the Welsh Mabinogion, a bard named Myrddin in there and the myth of uniting England under one banner of Christianity while also integrating the "Old" pagan ways by the character of Arthur having sole rights to bear the sword under his father Uther Pendragon. In Welsh, Pendragon means prince, or title holder. The sword, the Lady of the Lake, guardian of the sacred sword, the Dragon of the Earth, i.e. lei lines, and energies all drawing from power of nature and watching the times change from the old ways to the ways of Early Christendom. Arthur never actually existed but there was a Roman general that they think was the basis for Arthur named Arturo.
The first author was a British cleric named Geoffrey of Monmouth. It was called "Historia regum Britanniae" (The History of the Kings of Britain), originally called "De gestis Britonum" (On the Deeds of the Britons)
and the 2nd author was titled "Le Morte D'Arthur" by Sir Thomas Malory.
