Hello, my name is Gwyneth. I am an American living abroad in Germany and loving it. I have been working in the digital arts spectrum for 5 years now. I started off with GIMP and it wasn't long before I jumped onto Photoshop and it has been a fantastic journey since. My favorite genre is Fantasy but will also delve into the darker spectrum of works and into works that make a statement. I hope you enjoy my gallery.

Eclipse is now being forced onto some users
So I just saw this post on Neaganan's journal and I am just fucking appalled with the DA Team right now. How they think they can take away the switch button for NEW and EXISITING users without any warning whatsoever is beyond me. There are already a number of complaints on how the switch has been permanentely removed for some people and I just don't trust them anymore. What the hell do they think we are? a bunch of lab rats?
Eclipse is still a work in progress and it's way too soon for them to be forcing people to use it at this stage. If I'm being completely honest, it's hardly changed since the last time I reviewed it (So I just tried DeviantArt Eclipse...) The site is still tedious to use. Too much clicking is involved to actually get anywhere, not to mention that it takes too long for pages to load on my laptop compared to the old si

Deviantart Eclipse is a massive step back for this website. It reduces functionality. It is ridden with bugs. It is slow to use. The sheer amount of complaints about this update have shown that the majority of users do not find this to be an improvement. The website in it's current form is infinitely superior to Eclipse. The notifications page is easy to navigate. You can drag and drop to fave. Profiles look ordered.
On eclipse notifications are all the place, you have to scroll down endlessly to track conversations. (They don't just stack up the way they used to)
Profiles have been utterly ruined. Most of the existing widgets seem forced in. To actually make the profile look half-good you have to delete most old widgets. It also makes everyone's pages look too similar. Before there was more customization and variety.
So far we have an update that literally makes almost everything worse. The only good thing is that brow
What would you like to see on dA? Input requested!Hi everyone! It's me, that dude with a bad tendency to go silent but that now and then makes some feature journals, lol.
Anyway, this time I'm here for something bigger, and I would like all of you to participate! So let's get to it...
Some of you may remember an old journal of mine, where I talked about DA and meant to spin concerns into positive thoughts: Some thoughts about DA and Photomanip Feature
The outcome was varied and in many ways very helpful, so before I continue I want to thank everyone that participated in it.
So, what's this all about?
That journal, and all of your input, sprung something much bigger. Heidi replied in the journal and also messaged me in regard to it, showed interest in our opinions and offered 16k points to make an event where deviants could express their concerns in a constructive way.
This seemed too big a t
Eclipse and requesting to groupsI've just been looking a bit more at Eclipse and have found an issue I am really concerned about - I have completed the feedback form to DA but I don't believe it will change.
When I want to request images to my groups I go and browse - sometimes new work - sometimes the most popular - sometimes undiscovered - but I always choose categories depending on which group I'm requesting for - e.g. fractals if I'm requesting for my fractal groups, APN if I'm requesting for my nature groups.
Under Eclipse we can no longer do this!!
We have to browse the whole category of Photography - or Digital and can only narrow it down by using search for tags e.g. fractal
I have to say - browsing on DA is not one of my favourite past times, in particular the digital art category - plenty has been said about the porn on this site for people to understand wh
DeviantART is changing....DeviantART was unique before because it allowed every artist to express they're own individuality. One of its selling points was the user interface which was differnt from other art sites and encouraged people to want to seek out other artists and view their content.
My opinion about the site's most recent update (Eclipse).
1) It's impersonal. The creativity and the sense of individuality have been abolished. Every single account is now exactly the same. The removal of custom boxes, the basic HTML and CSS codes as well as the ability to show multiple featured drawings at once is a total crime against the artists who want to advertise their work through their profiles.
2) The avatar icons and background pictures are too blurry.
3) There don't seem to be any cropping option during the selection of background images.
4) I am a BETA tester and I s
[UPDATED] Eclipse Feedback - Feeling Very MixedMY PROFILE
The new ''custom'' boxes in EclipseI am so glad that the staff have listened to our feedback about needing more customization options in Eclipse, however the just released "custom" boxes leave a lot to be desired. Putting aside bugs in the system for the moment, let's just talk about basic functionality. Current custom boxes, no matter who made them or what they're meant to do, contain three basic elements:
A custom background. An inner box of some form. (Not always, but if they don't have it the good ones still make things readable by not having a complex background.)
Buttons of some form.
Eclipse custom boxes do not have an option for 2 or 3. They have some other great stuff like easily addable backgrounds, gifs, images, and image formatting. But without an inner box especially they can EASILY end up hard or impossible to read. As for buttons, they help with conversion (getting people to click things) and organization. Also they just look nice.
I threw together a quick (and dirty) mock-up of some relatively minor chang
Also, with pornography, it's basically "sex for sale." Artists pursue eroticism, I think, as they pursue beauty. It may sell, but if their goal is genuinely to transmit what they apprehend as almost ethereal in its beguiling sensuality (i.e., is fine art rather than commercial art), then the work's 's monetary value must remain a secondary consideration to them. Pornographers, on the other hand, are far less motivated by the desire to faithfully represent what they may (or may not) regard as beautiful or aesthetic. Rather, their undertaking is contrived to "produce" what they believe will turn the largest possible profit.
Besides pornography's being principally a money-making venture, the very word pornography (or better, porn) almost invariably connotes a certain exploitation--at times degradation or desecration-- of human sexuality. Many writers (particularly feminists) have rightfully complained that pornography, by objectifying women, reduces them to sex objects whose core value is to satisfy a man's libidinous needs." www.psychologytoday.com/us/blo…
