Literature Text

Sunlight touches
Palm weight through heavy
Curtain shadow

I gather
Sitting council

Newspaper resting
Against the corner
Of his knee

He tells me
About passing time

Hold on to everyday

He says

Full Heart
beating soft

Clinging like dust
In the corners

Hold in
A Waiting autumn

I turn
Placing a photograph
On the kitchen table

He has
His arm around her

Sun promise laughing

Warm light against
an open face

Cold body

Drifting hollow in the open tide

New morning shapes
In the small hours

Breathing solid
A waning light

What do I say to him now
About the time that’s passing

The grass bends soft with
Moving shadows

New heart
The texture of stone

And he tells me
This time
He tells me

A moving poem: it reads honestly and effortlessly. I got goosebumps at the end. Often I'm jaded by the poetry one finds online, but not this time. You earned your DD in spades.

Thank you! This one has been cooking in my head for a long time. Felt really good to finally put it all down on paper.
