The Red Vial

An excerpt from a future novel:
As she poured the liquid in the vial into the river, I knew I could not possibly see the poisons pluming and snaking their way, yet I did. I saw the red glowing veins seep into the land and the water and the bush. A sadness like I had never known came over me. "Don't look so gloomy, Caroline. There are far worse things in the world." Yet at that moment, I could think of none.

Just a little something I thought of as I was painting this one.

Watercolor/liquid acrylic on pastel board.

I like pastel board because of the effects of the paint.

Enjoy!

great. the organic veins remind me some of Max Ernst's work. still, so hard to see people paying attention to color and its interactions nowadays...

This reminds me of a mix of the dragon Malificent and the Red Weed from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds. It's beautiful, regardless of my varied associations :blowkiss:

I like the excerpt, too! Is it yours?

Thanks! Yeah I wrote that one. Who knows if it will be part of a bigger story some day.
