ABOUT THIS OAKENTOON
Considering what has been happening in the previous four episodes, Elrond had it coming, didn't he?
Title taken from "The Lord of the Rings" - in "The Fellowship of the Ring" chapter VIII of the Second Book was titled "Farewell to Lórien".

Well, given what else they probably wanted to do but couldn't cram in due to the Durin's Day time constraint, setting things on fire as one last middle-finger moment before leaving actually seems pretty much straight-forward logic for them XD
On the other hand, while I want to feel bad for Lord Elrond (trying here, people), I actually feel a bit worse for Lindir, given the poor fellow's probably going to be the one to have to extinguish the flames XD
