I took this photograph almost five years ago. The flags are still flying. Each has been replaced several times over the years. I will not fly a dilapidated flag.

I shot a grand total of one roll of film during August. A few days before the herniated disk repair I loaded the Yashica-TLX with a roll of Portra 400 and headed out for a walk around the neighborhood, starting with our own house.
The US flag is because I love the country of which I am a citizen and for which I flew Army helicopters back in the day.
The Pride flag is for my gay and lesbian and transgender (etc) relatives and friends and neighbors.
The Puerto Rico flag is for my Puerto Rican friends and, especially, for my dear Puerto Rican neighbors, who adopted us shortly after they moved in a few years ago.
(I helped secure the flagpole for the one up on their porch.)
