When I was a child, one of our favorite Sunday School choruses was this.
Jesus love the little children,
all the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white,
they are precious in his sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world.
The song still rings true, even if much of the conservative white church has added, "as long as they keep to their place and don't get uppity."

I do not say "evangelical church", because an Evangelical is one who trusts in the gospel (evangelium), the good news of Jesus Christ. That includes me.

Jesus inaugurated his public ministry by quoting from the prophet Isaiah.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
   because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”
As I read through the Bible each year, I am more and more drawn to the Hebrew prophets.

After condemning the people of Judah for abandoning the Lord God, Ezekiel adds,
Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain. Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says’—when the Lord has not spoken. The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice.
Micah point us to the right path.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
But we have abandoned the gospel of love and put our hope in a gospel of hate.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on our nation, for we have sinned grievously against you.

Well written.  The Lord raised up the Chaldeans (Babylon) to punish the Israelites, I fear he is raising ISIS or some version of it to punish us.

Amen - these statements that resonate very deeply with me.

It is way too easy to get lulled into a feeling that 'things are OK'. Then suddenly, you realise they aren't, and universities are burning and the old threats are very real again.

From a corner of the planet where we struggle with this every day, strength.

"A luta continua" - the struggle continues. It becomes a way of life.
Sometimes the struggle is against something clearly definable. Sometimes the struggle is with one's own biases and prejudices. Sometimes it is with complacency. If I am not struggling, I suspect I am becoming too complacent "this side" of home.
Gary Thomas writes of "Spiritual Pathways", and includes the activist as an 'uncomfortable' one. It is, but it is necessary in this fallen world.

Thank you, Steve.

This is a very important time for all of us. It is very important for all of us to be able to distinguish fear from right and proper anger; and both from all forms of hatred. This is a time to share care, consideration, and love and respect with others; that care, consideration, and love and respect may also be shown to you.

It is especially time to realize the way our system of government's three divisions, bottom line, control the excesses of each other. Take your government seriously, fellow citizens. Learn how it was designed to work, and what safeguards are still in place.

Don't share at all your faith, but I understand what you feel.  gospel of hate are meaningful words to summarize your message.
I must confess that I would have preferred Mickey !
When there's nothing left, remains the laughter

"Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations."

We have really been seeing this big time with the way that some of the "Prosperity Gospel" preachers have held up Trump as some sort of person ordained by God. Ugh.
