Description

Across Salt Road to the East are a pair of buildings Xerox used to rent in its glory days.  One is back in service; this one that I worked in for several years is looking decidedly forlorn.

My boss sat on the other side of the window I'm peering through.

Scanning and inverting the negatives leaves a sepia tint on the images.  Usually I desaturate to a clean black and white.  For this set it seemed appropriate to leave it in.

Excellent use of the window. I think a lot of folks would have tried to clean it up as best they could to get a clearer view inside, but it suits the nature of the subject to have that grime in the very foreground yet unfocused. It adds a bit of mystery, which is good for an abandoned building!

In looking more closely at the composition, I think that the lower-left corner is a bit distracting. It looks like it's maybe shrinkwrap over some furniture, or something? The lines are distracting, because they create a very light spot that draws the eye away from the rest of the subject, and it makes the thing look a little less abandoned, because on the way out someone obviously took care to wrap it up. I don't think there's much you could do about it other than trying another window, though.
