I am a Christian, photographer, writer and walker,  living in Rochester, NY. Once upon a time I was an Army helicopter  jockey in Alaska. A theologically-educated geek. He/him. Supports gay/lesbian/trans/whatever folks.

I started with film, switched to digital, then went back to classic film cameras.

I hang out in a variety of places.

• DeviantArt – Joined dA in 2005. This has been my main photography site ever since. (But why “pearwood”?)

• The Trek – I have started blogging for The Trek. Follow me at https://thetrek.co/author/steven-tryon.

• Instagram – Started a new account in 2022 as "PearwoodOnTheTrail" for my hiking adventures.

• Instagram – Originally joined in 2017 as “pearwoodphoto”. General updates.

• Flickr – Joined ages ago as "pearwood". I keep it up to date.

• PearwoodPhoto.com – Blog and photography on WordPress.

• Goodreads – What I’ve been reading.

I will always remember…

• I will always remember that I am one finite human being, with assorted weaknesses, and that’s ok.

• I will always remember that I will not live forever on this earth, and that’s ok, too.

• I will always remember that Jesus loves me, and that is enough.

So what catches my eye? An eye to see beauty in the unusual or, even  more, in the ordinary things of life. A portrait that reveals something  unique or special of the one portrayed — or of the artist  (self-portraits in particular fascinate me), or of joy, grief, and hope  of life. A gaze into the eyes of the one gazing at the artist. The sheer  joy of creation. A delight in the ridiculous that resides in all of us.  Gracefulness of form and motion.

Life is a photo op. Take the camera.
