Just a little update to a model I made a year or so ago...

Created in MakeHuman and Blender

Looking at all of your character models, I really should learn how to use MakeHuman. Is the armor and clothing and stuff made in Blender?

Well, it's free and easy to use, so I would go for it.

Yes, I make the basic human figure in MakeHuman with unwrapped UVs.  You can calibrate all of the bits to get a pretty wide ranging variety of forms.  It also has a facial rig you can export with it, but I've never gotten to use it because I always do additional modeling to the figure in Blender.  And once you add or subtract any vertices, it completely screws up the shape keys for the facial rig, so....  I do use the simple body rig that you can export with it.  The rig has some issues and always has to be adjusted a bit, but it's something to work with at least.  It also has some bits of mesh built into it for eye brows and eye lashes that I always just go in and delete right away.  I very much prefer to use Blender's hair particle system.
I make all of the accessories (weapons, helmets, and such...) from scratch in blender.  I also often borrow bits from the mesh of the figure to build the clothing and armor out of.  That helps keep it all rigged the same.  :-)
But I really have no idea what I'm doing, so....  have fun!

I have an old copy of Poser that I used for human figures and a lot of add-ons but the results weren't nearly what I wanted. Plus the IU was a mess and the figure changes you made didn't export. So any character you could make in Poser would end up looking like the base model anyway.

Thanks! I'll check out MakeHuman and see if I can incorporate it into my kit.
