Did you notice? I've changed my Username, Avatar, Tag Line, Profile Picture and my underpants. My new Avatar shows my 3DS Mii wearing a Penguin Suit from New Super Mario Bros. WiiJardimStudios is no more. From now on... you call me PaulistaPenguin — actually, you can call me Jardim, but I always wanted to say that.

Hi, there! Pengu La Bounce  Hey, come back here! I'm not a stranger! Here...

Make no mistake: yours truly remains your old friend, Brazilian Nintendo-holic Eduardo Jardim — better known by my 7-year-old DeviantArt username, "JardimStudios". I've been supporting this social community for a very long time now, and some of you even turned into the best friends I had in life. As you may know, I eventually go into a colossal hiatus here on DeviantArt, and I've been thinking, why do I do that? Why would I leave so much?

Then I came to a realization. I guess the name I was carrying all along was getting too old. Since the "JardimStudios" label had been part of a very different time in my life, it was affecting my very desire to create something new and to be productive. It felt more and more like it belonged to the past. Isn't it ironic? I've never had an actual studio, nor good means to create something special. I've developed some bad feelings about the nickname as I have for so many things that happened to me while I was active.

Based on this, I've started some sort of petition here for a basic Premium Membership — a new way to change your username without going through all the trouble of creating a new account. We didn't have this feature back in my time!  I'm happy for this feature and even happier for all the support given to me from Gazerock4ever, Labyrinth77 and the astoundingly benevolent soul of stephaniescarlet. I'd like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart; I know it seems crazy, but it's a dream come true. You're the best! :penguinla:

Rise of the Paulista Penguin

I see lots of people choosing to be represented by animals. My friends EpsilonEagle and ElectricGecko are a good example of it. Here's my equivalent response! If you're confused about the my new username — I'll need some time to get used to it, too... I mean, it's been seven years! —, I'm explaining some stuff.

:bulletblack:  "Paulista" is the demonym for São Paulo, Brazil.
:bulletblack:  The penguin is my favorite animal. They're adorable!
Again, I'd like to thank all those involved in my recently acquired Premium Membership and promise to you — again — that I'm working on new drawings and comissions. Be there for me — because I'll be there for you!

Yours truly,

JardimStudios

Bom dia! Penguin

I'm a penguin. No, really, I am. An emperor penguin, to be exact.

You see, I spend my life facing storms and blizzards, but I have set goals which I need to achieve. I know my DeviantArt username has nothing to do with it, but I'm actually sick and tired of all the "one-man studios" concept and, as alleged in an old poll of mine, I'd like to change it to JardimWorld, JardimUniverse or something symbolic, such as MarioArtist or MushroomRetainer. The fact is, I'm a deviant for 7 years. This whole JardimStudios thing makes me utterly unmotivated at this point; just the fact of writing it at login now prevents my creative flow. The problem is, I can't afford a Premium Membership at this moment — which is why I'm humbly asking for your help.

You see, back in my time, it was absolutely impossible to change your username. So whenever you felt uncomfortable with your current username, you had to create a new account and manually transfer everything you had in your previous account to the new one. I see how many people are still doing it nowadays, but I've got a history here; classic deviations, journals, the story of my life. If I ever be ashamed of my old stuff, all I have do is delete them. I can organize and reorganize everything just to make it feel brand new, so why would I create a new account? I'm sure that's exactly how DeviantArt managers think.

And most important: I will not lose any of you.

Currently, all I have is 10 Points. I know, right? I've donated some of them in the past, too. Word is that I need 396 Points (US$ 4.95) for the basic Premium Membership, so all I need is a total of 386 Points. I'm feeling the urge to come back to the drawing universe in big style, but I've got no big resources — if any of you could transfer some Points to me or directly donate a Premium Membership, I'd be incredibly thankful and believe me, this deed will be forever ingrained in my memory. I also would love to make some cool artworks for you in return.

Arceus bless you!

Thank you in advance,

I'll Tag Along.

8 min read
Boa tarde!

I got tagged by EpsilonEagle.

:bulletorange: Rules.
1. You must post the rules.
2. Each person must post 5 things about themselves in their journal
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create eleven new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4. You have to choose 10 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
5. Go to their page and tell them you have tagged them.
6. No tag backs
7. No stuff in the tagging section about "you're tagged if you're reading this". You legitimately have to tag 10 people.

:bulletorange: Things about me.
:bulletblack: I have an expansion project for my Mario-themed website, Reino do Cogumelo. It involves a handful of parallel, renowned Nintendo franchises.
:bulletblack: I love penguins.
:bulletblack: After finishing Pokémon Red, Yellow, Blue, Gold, Crystal and (almost finishing) Silver through this year, I'm playing Dragon Warrior I. Despite its simplicity, it's by far one of the best games that I've ever played. Go, Jard! Go where rain and sun come together!
:bulletblack: I'm working as an office assistant in a law firm located on Avenida Paulista (Paulista Avenue), one of my favourite places on Earth. It's been a pleasure to work here, specially near the holidays.
:bulletblack: My fiancée and I are both back to the Marvel: Avengers Alliance addiction. If you play it via Facebook, make sure to add us as allies.

:bulletorange: Questions by EpsilonEagle
1: What is your favorite fictional character and why?
I know this is quite predictable, but I have to say Mario. It's a strong character, an absolute athlete of all sorts and, deep within, a true lover. The character's innocence and motivation is absolutely inspiring; also, everything that's Mario-related carries its fun, magic essence.

2: Do you own video games? If so what's your favorite?
I do have a few video game consoles, but it's certainly less than I wanted. Contrary to popular belief, I actually own nothing but two home consoles: a SNES Model SNS-101 and a Wii Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary Edition. My fiancée, luckily, is more of a portable-gaming type, so I have access to the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DSi and Nintendo 3DS systems. I can't really choose a favorite console, nor a favorite game.

3: What's your favorite game console, if any?
I can't really choose a favorite console, but I'll ultimately stick to the SNES.

4: What is your favorite genre of music? And what bands do you like?
I'm quite picky when it comes to music genres. I like heavy metal quite a lot, without any favorite band or lead singer. Rockabilly is also music to my ears: I really appreciate Johnny Cash's work.

5: What is your opinion on today's music?
Today, the huge load of voice effects tucked into the songs are probably destroying the space of real talented singers; but it really depends on the genre you're sticking to. Pop music is an absurdly huge market nowadays, and I really hate those. As for Brazilian music, we're in a very good phase... to kill the music industry. Seriously, we desperately need to kill the funk carioca before it lays eggs. Did you ever have an earache? You don't know the meaning of it.

6: Were there any scenes from an old movie that scared you as a child? (ie: the Large Marge scene from Pee Wee's Big Adventure freaked me out)
The Super Mario Bros.' Goombas literally gave me nightmares as a child. Their design was terrifying! The scene in which the Marios infiltrate in the middle of those abnormally tall monsters with a tiny little grinny head freaked me out for weeks!

7: What operating system do you have on your computer?
Windows 7.

8: If you could have one super power of your choice what would it be (and no, I'm not accepted "the power to have all the powers I want" or something like that)?
I'm not up to superstrenght, superflying or invisiblity; personally, I'd like to have the power to malfunction and/or explode into bits nearly stereo systems. That's it. I see a car playing a wicked loud music on my neighborhood, and boom, there goes the disrespect for the community. Your neighbor is listening to forró and the music is going up into your ears and tickling your nerves? Boom, I now present you the comfortable ways of silence. It's all about the search for the world peace.

9: Do you like cartoons from the 80s and 90s? If so what's your favorite?
Of course, I love classic cartoons. Along with old Brazilian TV shows such as Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum and Mundo da Lua, Tom & Jerry, Woody Woodpecker and Pound Puppies are listed as part of my fondest childhood memories. Oddly enough, I wasn't aware about the Super Mario Bros. cartoon trilogy developed by DiC Entertainment back in that time.

10: Tea or Coffee? (Sorry, couldn't think of anything better)
You're absolutely right. Nothing is better than coffee.

:bulletorange: My questions.
:bulletblack: Where does your deviantART username come from?
:bulletblack: Do you have a pet of some sort? If you do, what's its name?
:bulletblack: If you could choose anyone in the world, dead or alive, to be your mentor, who would it be and why?
:bulletblack: What do you do when you're bored?
:bulletblack: Do you see floaters? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floater
:bulletblack: What's the last game that you finished?
:bulletblack: Suddenly, you have the power to bring one video game, and one video game only, to real life. Which one would you choose?
:bulletblack: The object on your left is your only weapon in a zombie apocalipse. How screwed you are?
:bulletblack: If you had to choose between world peace and a world with Pokémon... which starter would you choose?
:bulletblack: It's June 15, 1944. You're a new Office of Strategic Services recruit and you're sent to a stealth mission where, disguised as a Kriegsmarine officer, you must scuttle German U-Boat U-4901 during its maiden voyage to Bremen. On the way, you see a Nazi officer making his physiological needs with the doors open. Seeing the enemy in such a situation, would you still shoot him in the head with your Silenced Pistol for him to die sitting on the toilet or would you honorably at least wait for the man to finish his job?
