Running Water (Pencil) by Paul-Shanghai Running Water (Pencil) by Paul-Shanghai
I have never had to be specific in the title about what medium was used, but i thought it was appropriate to indicate that this is a drawing and not a photo-manip or similar :)

Following on from a Tear -Gravi-Tear by Paul-Shanghai and then a splash - Eye Splash by Paul-Shanghai I thought I would go the whole hog and do a whole person (well almost!). I cannot claim the inspiration for this piece that goes down to a great artist called Aaron Kniele aaronkneile.com - but I do claim the 40+ hours of intense, eye bleeding pencil drawing in creating this fairly large (65cm X 40cm) representation of a man running through the finish line.....in water :D

Drawn entirely using a mechanical 4B pencil, a little bit of eraser, blending stump and a dash of traditional HB here and there. '

The most complex and exhausting piece of work I have done, hope you like it? You can see the scale of the drawing here... Running Water (Pencil) Showing Scale :) by Paul-Shanghai

*****UPDATE*****UPDATE******

Got up early this morning to catch the morning sun and took some photos outside (as recommended :)) so I have uploaded a cleaner photograph without any major shadows.

I'm a novice when it comes to my drawing skills. When my practice produces results though I have no doubt in my mind I would want to draw water in various forms. Mainly because I love swimming and that one quote from Bruce Lee in which he describes how water is adaptable. Anyways back to the point, I hope to one day be able to draw water like you sir. Might take me years of blood and sweat but one day I will hopefully reach your skill level in drawing. The drawing is simply amazing. Thank you for sharing such amazing art.

THis is amazing including all the creativity and hard work it took to make
at first i really thought a photomanipulation done in photoshop because i've done something like this before using watersplashes
this is really good
i;m hoping to make another one using using this technique but not with photoshop this... you really helped me to get a good idea ( i can't tell that right now ;) )

Astounding! The details and shading are so precise and careful, yet so - I don't know, haphazard? chaotic? - that it's a perfect representation of water spray.

This is probably redundant at this point, but you're an extraordinary artist.

Oh god I am drawing a creature in splashing water with coloured pencil now and after the sketch I don't even know where to start... Now I understand why no one draws splashing water...
I really wish I can just use photoshop...
But anyway this is an AMAZING piece!!!

What would you recommend, getting a framed print or going canvas? Would one look better then the other in quality? Which would give it a greater impact?
