I consider my work to be surreal in definition, varying between the early Dadaist and the late surrealist style of art. While combining repetition, variation, reality, society, fantasy, current events, politics, the unconscious mind and emotion, the paintings often create themselves, often resulting in my own inability to explain my art. I feel that my work is frequently a result of abstract thoughts towards a specific subject which cannot be described in words but solely through visual interpretation, resulting in one’s attempt to rationalize the irrational.
Often times, trying to find “concrete” meaning and rationality in the abstract takes away from the originality of one’s own interpretation. For some, abstraction and mystery is better accepted only when it can be explained, for others, it is the enigma itself that captures and intrigues. However, some works of art are better left unexplained and for the viewer to find their own interpretation to a painting, as it may take on a different meaning for each person. However, understood or not, accepted or not, realistic or surrealistic, whatever meanings you may gather from my work, I do hope you enjoy them. And always keep in mind that any existing controversy one may feel towards my art is only as real as the surrealistic landscape where it’s found. Art is the voice and product of the never beginning and never ending consciousness in which we are. Art is expression. Art is everything, and everything is art.
