The tree stump in the background is afraid.
Since the Assassin is so close to the bear's face (with his face) and since neither his arms look like they'll have enough wind up time before he reaches the bear, I assume he's going to do one of those samurai things where dashes at the last second as he passes the bear's body and slices through him from the side passing by, ending up behind where the bear once was and the bear's gully slit open like a fish fillet.
But anyway, nice picture! The expression on both "participants" is very convincing. I suppose that's what it's like to be a shepherd boy in the middle east. They had to wrestle bears or at least protect their sheep from them, even if that meant grabing the bear (or lion) and strangling the bear while beating it to death with his staff. Woah. Intense stuff. Shepherds get a bad rap, but they are tough! And courageous! (Please do a shepherd. Haha.)

You did a fantastic job on this picture! Not only on the superb character and bear designs, but also on the surroundings. ^^ The trees look genuine, and that shading/lighting combination is so clean.
Fighting the bears was always fun when I was out in the woods. xD
However I would like to see more space around them. It seems like it was cropped out of some larger picture.
But that is just my opinion
