In my flintlock fantasy setting, Trolls stand head and shoulders above Ogres in terms of height, towering at 15 feet tall on average. The two species are related, so there are many similarities in their appearance. However, Ogres tend to be far more hairy than Trolls, who have only short, bristly patches of hair on the body, if even that. Many varieties of Trolls are completely hairless. In terms of behavior, Trolls are much like Ogres, lacking sapience but possessing enough intelligence to craft primitive tools which are constructed with the aid of innate Magic abilities. Trolls also make crude baskets to transport the prey they capture back to their lairs and large cudgels for clearing away obstacles and squashing their quarry. Unlike Ogres, Trolls to not prefer to turn their stash of meat into a vile pudding. Instead, they hang the cadavers up to dry into a vile sort of jerky, which they savor chewing. Trolls are more dangerous than Ogres in that they have the same resistance to piercing and bludgeoning weapons but possess regenerative powers that can only be negated with fire. Indeed, most Trolls find flames to be highly aversive, as their skin is quite vulnerable to extreme heat. However, they will not hesitate to try and stamp out a fire in their territory out of fear it may spread. Thus, many travelers have been attacked by Trolls who spotted their campfires and came to extinguish it. Fire is not the only source of heat that Trolls avoid, though. Many are photosensitive and cannot tolerate direct sunlight on their skin for long without getting burned by it. This can result in the skin becoming infected. More than a few Trolls have been found dead as a result of getting sunburned. This is why Trolls are nocturnal in regions where they do not have adequate cover from the sun. In dense forests with a thick enough canopy, they will not hesitate to go out during the day, making sure to avoid any clearings where the sun penetrates the branches. Trolls are not as common as Ogres, but they are more likely to live near civilization, especially when there is plenty of livestock to hunt. This often makes them the bane of cattle farmers, who frequently have to pool money to hire people to hunt and eliminate the Troll killing their cows. Fortunately, most Trolls are just as easily duped as Ogres, so a clever band of Adventurers can lure one into a trap and eliminate it. Being slow, lumbering creatures, outrunning a Troll is not difficult, but their arms can be disturbingly agile, and their grips powerful, so getting snatched by a Troll is usually an automatic death sentence.
