Sometimes, I just can't come up with a good title. :)

Lots of modelling work on this one. It was a fun exercise. Also, I used POV-Ray's f_ridged_mf function for pigments and normals on the building texture, except the lighting doesn't do it much justice, oh well.

The Technical Stuff:
Building modelled in Blender.
The gargoyles at the top of the columns are from Daz3D. The girl is imported from Poser.
Lighting, Materials and render... POV-Ray

YEARS later, Blender still holds vast expanses of expanding territory unexplored by me,
but at least I now have come as far as hacking some useful tools with Python (that actually work),
and THIS, dear Janet, is the image that really shoved me into Blender. Thank you.
Thus I fave this into my Tuts collection.   :neom:

It’s gotten some serious enhancements in recent versions.

You’re gonna love the PyDrivers and the Python API!   :worker:

It is Janet. But seeing a biker chick walking towards a nunnery with that title is funny!!

Scary title :P Fantastic image. Reminds me of one more thing I may never get around to at the present rate -- I have a book or two chock full of pictures of cathedrals, a wealth of source material...

Yes, scary, that's true! :) Some of that gothic architecture is amazing. I should figure out how to make some vaulted cielings. That would be cool.

I think intersecting arches would do the trick. Not sure the shape of the arches, may not be critical for artistic purposes. Either parabola or cosh would probably serve. :)
