Penrose Tile 1

This tile pattern was made using Penrose Tiler, Ultra Fractal 4, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Penrose Tiler is a free program you can get here---> [link]
The penrose tile was created, then exported to Illustrator as a PostScript file. Then to Photoshop.
There is an Ultra Fractal layer that gives it a bit of colour variance, although you can hardly tell =P

Just so you know, because someone else had this problem, it just gives you the lines and curves. The rest of the work I did in Illustrator and Photoshop. Have fun!

I think UF will do penrose tiles too... :confused:

Really? I was thinking it might be posible. If you have any info on it, I'd be grateful. I looked on the internet, but nothing I can use.

I'll try it, I know there's a "gradient for penrose tilings" or something OCA and I think I saw a transformation? :shrug:

Gives me something to do. :)

Sorry, I forgot to mention that if you have acess to the mailing list parameters db you can search for "tiling" or "penrose" and get some parameters for images that use it. Some of them are kind of interesting. :)

Thanks, I subscibed, so I'll check it out. Here's a link--> [link] It creates a colouring algorythm out of any image. That's probably how that guy did those Escher fractals. Found it on the UF resources website. Wild!

I tried it out, the program you're using looks a lot better, more options.... The tiling transformations are mostly in sam.uxf and there are some gradients for them in sam.ucl. They work well enough with a pixel formula if you want to play with them but you can't really alter the tiling pattern too much without editing the actual transformation formula as far as I can tell.

[link] there are a few examples in that gallery...(I would love to know how he does the Escher tessellations in there :))

I think they might make interesting textures if you have the right fractal for it, but on their own I don't think they're of too much use if other programs do a better job of it. :)

Thanks so much! So far, it looks very good! I just get happy about this kind of thing, I am a total nerd, I guess. :D The Penrose Tiling program I use is just a starting point and most of the work is done in Illustrator and Photoshop, so this UF way could be fun if can get some good colouring method happening. I did a Windows search on penrose and it didn't come up with anything. Must have done it wrong. :( Anyway, I am really glad you found it for me. Thanks again!
