Previous verse:…

So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off.
And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.”

That must have been incredibly hard for Abraham! :O

God is worth more than your own son, but it is nonetheless heart-breaking! So glad God stopped Abraham from doing it in the last moment. It shows God's true character; He didn't wish for a human sacrifice, He was just testing Abraham's faith. And I don't think I'm wrong by saying that he passed the test! :D

True, but remember that God has also promised that Abraham's seed would be multiplied via Isaac; so he sort of knew that God will make all things well in the end; Abraham's sacrifice wasn't an act of blind faith. :)

I know we can say that now, because it has happened. But if you were to look at it through Abraham's eyes, I'm not sure if we would respond the way we do now. You see what I mean? :)

Yes, I do, but again - before the sacrifice, Abraham knew that Isaac would bear further progeny. Sure, it was painful and difficult - but definitely not as startling as a plain 'murder your own child.' :)
