VERY. TRUE.
I don't get much critique in my artwork, but the times I do get critique, they are very useful for improving my artwork.

Critiques are very uncomfortable, that's why I usually don't ask for one, not sure if I can handle it. :iconsobplz:

I do agree with your stamp, because critiques are very separate from regular comments and it is the artist who encourages people to critique their work. If they don't want their work to be constructively criticized in anyway they have the option of leaving regular comments open.

Several people mentioned this before, and that is having a balance of positives and negatives of the work. So the artist has something they can feel good about and something they could focus on.

If anyone wants to critique my art, I promise you that I won't throw a little immature hissy fit. I really think that some artists need to learn how to listen to people.

I wish I got a rude critique.

It'd be better than the usual "OH EM GEE U R A GR8 RTIST".

Your anatomy sucks. It really makes your character in your icon look inhuman.

Damn thing doesn't even have a nose or even facial muscles.

Hello. I just wanted to say that I used your stamp in my journal if you don't mind. I love it.

I hate when I get nothing but nice critiques, but at the same time I don't want to decline something just because it's too nice. I just wish someone would actually give me a cold, hard critique for once. Whenever I do actually get a good critique, it's always through a note for some reason.

My most recent sketch has been getting nothing but five stars or just about that. I hate declining anyone's critique because sometimes they work harder in writing it but I would like a proper critique. All these good critiques make me look like an asshole.

I think that giving a negative view is bad, but giving nothing but a sweet lies is bad too. You have to have a medium to help teach the person, but to also not discourage them as well. Some of us can easily be discouraged and, no matter what you say/think, sometimes we just can't change it. It's a lot harder than it looks, and everyone is different. So, what worked for one person, won't for another.

I hate this is both respects. I hate people ass kissing, yes, but I also hate people ass KICKING.

Why? Well, critiques are about improvement due to judging the faults and strength of the art. I hate it would people are way too critical of art that people pull all their efforts into, not their talents, but effort. That's saying something, it takes practice and effort. But I also hate it when people think it's the best thing since slice cheese. It isn't always, and there is always room for improvement.

Be it vectors, original art, fanart, photography. Art is art. Beautiful and Disastrous in it's own way. Respect and Understand it.

Apparently, "critic" comes from the Greek word κρίνω which means "I judge". Not "I kiss up."

People are so retarded sometimes...

A critique is meant to help people and point out both the positives and the negatives of their artwork, though I'd rather have the negatives be point out more blatantly so I don't make those same mistakes next time.

You just wanna yell "MORONS! Critique =/= ass-kissing! It means giving you help on your work!"

Just... Ugh. :iconfacepalmplz:

Well, that could be true as well, there are critiques that can be quite harsh, but there are those who just straight up insult people or give death threats and claim that it's a critique.
