So, all started on 6:30 a.m. when we (I and my friends) travelled by bus from Wrocław (Breslau) to Karpacz (Krummhübel). When we were coming out of the bus, it has been raining slightly. We went to trail we wanted to go. Near to Wang stave church we had our breakfast. We were eating under roofing of closed café. Meanwhile we had two short rains. I convinced my friends to visit the stave church.
It was a short tour with a guide. Tourists groups were entering every 30 minutes. I bought additional ticket to take pictures inside of the church, but camera didn't want to cooperate in poor light. I gave that ticket to my friend and asked to take pictures for me. After the tour, we visited a cemetery that was behind the church and went to buy ticket for entering Karkonosze National Park. Each of us bought two one-day tickets and we went onto trail.
The trail was at beginning more steep than I remembered, but after a while it was similar to my memories. We were going to Polana (The Glade), which is a mountain glade where many trails cross. We had a short break while going there.
When we came to the glade, it came out that one of trails (not one we wanted to go) was closed due to protection of endangered animal species. Quite quickly we went further, while crossing a stream next to glade.
Our next goal was valley called Kocioł Małego Stawu (Kettle of the Small Pond), in which there was a mountain lake (you can easily guess the name of it) and mountain hut named Samotnia (Solitude). Weather that was quite nice on previous leg of the journey, started to progressively worsen. When we made another stop, there was slight rain of course. There still were some nice views though.
When we came to the valley, fog was quite low. It didn't seem to be a problem to many people that were here. We decided to make another break, to eat and drink something. I decided to buy a coffee in the Samotnia.
When we were consuming our food supplies it started to rain. We tried to hide inside the mountain hut, but there was too many people. We decided for quick run to another mountain hut "Strzecha Akademicka" where we planned to overnight. Fog and rain (but mostly fog) were limiting visibility. At some point vision range was around 3m (10ft). We got to mountain hut took our things to the rented room. We decided that we'll wait for better conditions before eventual trip to Śnieżka mountain. Conditions didn't seem to improve enough, so we stayed in the mountain hut. Everyone ate dinner and took shower. We went to sleep quite early.
