I was debating whether to scan this at all or not, but aw, heck, have a little shitpost doodle I did that was already fashionably late when I made it months ago.

Disclaimer: I still haven't seen the Shape of Water, I've just heard people talk about it, but this one argument reminded me of certain someone from this one comic I draw, and I never claimed my sense of humor was actually good.

I have a feeling Niavel would like the movie a lot. She understands.

It was weird but visually beautiful. Worth a watch if you like weird movies or just cool scenery. If it is a del Toro film you want: this is not his typical work. Good but not the usual stuff you get.

It was a... Weird film. I enjoyed it, and it was well acted and shot but it was just... Weird. Like people didn't react to things correctly. Like the whole cat scene. There was no reason for it. It didn't change anything in the movie, it didn't alter the plot in any way. It just sort of happened and everyone moved on.
That and everyone's reaction to her falling in love with a monster. There was no surprise, no concern. Everyone just sort of smiled, rolled their eyes and accepted it as if it was the most normal thing in the world.

That was the only real problem I had with it that I can think of.

I liked it a lot, like said it was really weird but very interesting and you felt for the characters. A little confused by her actually falling in love with the sea creature and him actually being able to do the same but it is a Beauty and the Beast story almost. I mean animals are capable of love (I mean falling in love and not just during mating season but stay together as a couple and die of grief if the partner dies).

I saw it more of a creature until that was revealed and it was not just a "Free Willy" story. I liked how even those who did not seen to care helped out and that the creature saves her in the end.

I think it is a one time watch movie though and watching it again knowing what is going to happen sort of ruining the suspense. Del Toro is not shy to kill of anyone so you never know if it ends happy or in tragedy.

Pfft, Honey monsters are all I fall in love with. The movie is superb you need to watch it.

Actual story, when I saw the first Hellboy film I fell in absolute love with Karl Kroenen. Years later my folks get me GDT's Cabinet of Curiosities books as an Xmas present. Inside he talks about the making of the movie and, you know what I have the book in reach I'll just flat out quote it:

"DDT was using these sketches (of maskless-Karl) and they were becoming a little extreme. I was thinking, strangely enough, that Kroenen needed to be sexy. And I know an eyeless, lipless guy is not sexy, but I thought, "There needs to exist some kind of really, really, really twisted girl that's going to get off on Kroenen." So I said, "For that, my miniscule audience, we have to make him sexy." -GDT, Cabinet of Curiosities pg 172

Thank you so much GDT, because I was that twisted girl. Thank you for thinking of me. I felt so validated in my feelings reading that I almost cried.

We live in a culture where Quasimodo can be the main character, he can be a hero, and can totally get friend-zoned because he aint pretty.

Agreed with CarrionCorvid -- :XD: Yeah, I hadn't seen it  and I watched it with friends and when that part was presented I was like -- OKAY... So she has sex with a fish-man-thing... and then she... Well, I won't spoil it lol Needless to say it's a good movie in and of itself but it's a bit weird all the same lol

All you need to know is that the main character fucks a fish. I don't consider that a spoiler since it seems obvious.
