Rommel was a man among men, and it's good to see that he is still remembered positively.

Even so, it is hard to think of his life and not grieve for his failure (a failure shared with many others, of course) to perceive Hitler's true nature at an earlier stage.

Well, unfortunetally, there are thouse who want to change that, and portray Rommel as an evil idiot who lost the battle of North Africa. I dont get these people. THey must be all insane or have a Germanophobia or something! What the hell!?

I'm not aware that anyone was seeking to portray him as either "evil" or as an "idiot", but it's a crazy world so I guess that doesn't really surprise me. I think his greatness (as a man and as an Army officer) will endure, although he and his men did, after all, lose the "battle of North Africa". The military-miracle of that story is that he managed to postpone the defeat for as long as he did.

And of course, against not one, but 2 armies who had supplies, becuase Rommel was fighting a war with very limited supplies and reenforcements from Mainland Europe.

And regarding the people who mock Rommel, i have nothing more to say to them than the fact that they are plain stupid.

I couldn't agree more. However he-like many others- sought to rescue their Fatherland from Hitler. It's worth noting that unlike the other members of the resistance in the German General Staff, Rommel did not want Hitler to be assassinated. He wanted him to be captured, tried, and summarily punished for his crimes. It is a true shame... Rommel would have been one of the men to lead Germany away from disaster and into a new age.
