This waistcoat was the crowning achievement of my Prom outfit. This is the first garment that I have ever made from scratch, and for a first attempt it came out marvellously . The main body is unabashedly steampunk. It is custom tailored in the "Gambler" style, satin lined and features a belt closure on the back and some really cool victorian buttons.

That is a gorgeous waistcoat! Lovely fit. Are the buttons from an old Victorian garment?

Well, yes and no.
I had a couple buttons from the 1800s in my collection, but none of them matched. So. I took the one I liked best and made a mold of it. I cast these buttons in resin from that mold.

Great work! I'm working on one for my partner right now. I can't believe this is your first tailoring project.

If you're willing to take the time, it only costs about $25 to make one these.

You wore this to prom?? More than that, you made this yourself? So not only do you do excellent cosplays, possess an incredibly expansive knowledge of weapons construction, and draw and sing wonderfully, you also sew?

I do apologize. This is rather mindblowing for me - the people in my life are generally rather boring.
