Two Sides To A Lowlife

"Bad initiative, friend. Very bad sense of judgement." ~Lowlife
My take on the character "Lowlife" from the webcomic A.illusions by
. Well, the story hasn't really revealed that the two persons are one and the same, but I took that hint.
I know he's probably the villain but somehow this character (and page 55) struck me the most.
This is my first time to try putting together two kinds of images into one work. Initially I planned to do this concept for Tsukuda Mina from the anime Getsumen to Heiki Mina, but I wasn't too inspired. Doing a fanart for Lowlife has been tugging at the back of my mind ever since I read the webcomic, and I thought that this concept might work well for him too. While doing this piece, I learned a new technique which is using some white spaces to emphasize lines/images against a dark background (i.e. hat, coat) but I'm still not very good at it. The image is not as symmetrical as I wanted, and with the minimal images of the character, some parts may not be accurate. I also made him lankier than the original version, but retained that sneering face (which I really really like!
). Scanner ate up some of the colors again, especially on the face. There is still lots of room for improvement!!!
Nevertheless, this was a great experience and it took me out of my art slump.
