Magical Girl. It's MAHA Fun In the Philippines.

I met for the first time at the recently held Komikon 2012. He's a really nice and friendly guy. So I thought of doing a fanart of his OC from his magical girl manga, MAHA MAGICAL MANANANGGAL, one of the titles I picked up during the event.

I started sketching this yesterday at work, and finished inking and coloring today. Scanner ate up the colors again, most noticeably on the collar which I swear is really orange! Then I bullied *aherm*nicely asked my boyfriend to do a little bit of digital tweaking on my mistakes (eyes, tongue, BG, text, right wing) cos I am FAIL in Photoshop.

Background is the lovely Bangui Windmills located in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, which I recently saw featured in a local movie. Copied Maha's logo and did a little word play on the catchphrase "It's MORE FUN in the Philippines" to fit the theme. Hope you like the pun.




And yes, I am also submitting this as my (very belated) Halloween project for my FB drawing group, Gotta Draw!. I am also submitting this as my project for the "Couple Monthly Theme Art Challenge" Suoh12 and I are doing since our theme for November is also Halloween.

So yah, I'm hitting a lot of birds with this one stone cos I'm awesome like that (or just plain lazy, depending on how you view it!)

References: Mostly the cover art for Ray's manga, but I also had a lot of random stock images in my PSP which helped me a lot. The hand, which is a weakness, was based on an Ito Noizi artwork.
Inspiration: Suoh12 and I have set THIS on repeat while we were working on this cos that video is cool beans!!!
