Athena - Mycenaean Athana potniya by Panaiotis Athena - Mycenaean Athana potniya by Panaiotis

Yep!
But the Mycenaean clothes make an idea of a deity so ancient, primitive, and give more value than "classic outfit".

I love this. Athena's my favorite, and I've never really seen her rendered in the Mycenaean style. I think she looks great in the classical style -- whether with a chiton, hoplite armor, or a muscled cuirass -- but this is what Athena would look like during the Trojan War. I've always imagined the Achaeans as wearing Mycenaean garb and the Trojans as vaguely Hittite (since I don't know what Luwian armor looks like), but it never occurred to me to see the Olympians in anything but their Classical or even Hellenistic forms. This is a revelation.

Thank you so much for this -- and for the blog page with your research.

Out of curiosity, who did you use for her face? I've noticed your Alexander/Philip/Olympias pictures are modeled at least in part on the Oliver Stone film.

Hi Iaiusjello,
Thank you for this note! I'm glad you have appreciated the originality of this representation of Athena!
For the reference of the face I used the very beautiful actress Rachel Hurd-Wood ;)

Thanks Libra!
I appreciate all your comments. Especially that on the view of the towers, I will keep in mind. Although I did 2 different perspectives to differentiate the tower watching the mountains and the other to the sea.

Amazing. you captured the true-ness of the period, garment changing from Minoan to Greek and the rugged-ness of the way the gods were seen back then. I will even grant you the tusk helm given that she is a goddess. Researched and skill-fully wonderful

True. It might be interesting to see more deities in this outift. Ares would be a nice one, with Mycenean armour; as well as all the others who rushed around the Trojan plains.
