A broken heart can be fixed and taught to love again.
But a broken soul. That stays broken
Many believe them to be one and the same.
Maybe they are,
I wouldn't know.
But I believe your heart belongs to you and you alone,
Pulsing in your chest and drumming a melody just for you.
Your soul, however, can drift between eras and dimensions and bodies
Singing a celestial song for all the universe to hear, throughout space and history.
So a broken heart is fleeting in the infinite books of time,
As short as the beat that cracked its shell.
A shattered soul is damned for all eternity.
It may start to recover a million hearts later,
Translucent masses like mountains rise,
As clear and crisp as the sky.
With jade ribbons and teal satin streaks
That dance to and fro like the wind.
It can carry brave souls to the ends of the earth.
Benevolent and oh so exciting.
It can carry brave souls still further:
Past the ends of the earth
To a depth unknown.
Merciless and oh so thrilling.
Two sides of the same coin, as they say.
A rose by any other name, they'll tell.
She calls to many:
Like lovers parted so long,
A home you yearn for,
Or a family you miss.
Answer her call and respect her limits,
And she shall bestow the world unto you.
Answer her call and challenge her power,
