Turtles Forever 2 by PalfreyMan Turtles Forever 2 by PalfreyMan
After the recent brilliant cameo in 'Wormquake' I'm hungry for more TMNT crossovers! How about the REAL 1987 team meet their dumbed down 'Turtles Forever' counterparts?

At least Nickelodeon was able to fix what 4Kids broke with "Trans-Dimensional Turtles".

Well... they ended up pretty much doing the same thing to the 87 turtles in TMNT: Wanted Bebop and Rocksteady.

Man, Turtles Forever was so bittersweet. Bad enough they couldn't get the original VAs for the 80's Turtles characters back then(Especially when James Avery was still alive to voice 80's Shredder), but they had to biasly degrade them to a state of being derpy so they could smugly make the 03 Turtles characters outshine them.

Yeah, i know 87 TMNT aren't canon, but that was a low blow from 4kids

I like 2003 TMNT but that doesn't mean they should make fun of the older cartoon

Canon or not, the 87 TMNT cartoon was what put the whole Turtles franchise on the map. Without it, the TMNT would never get so much exposure, they'd be in obscurity being just comics on random comicbook store selves and in a few houses with only an esoteric fandom understanding them.

The 1987 cartoon also set the precedent for the future incarnations. The '87 Turtles were the ones who started the trend of wearing different colored bandannas. The Mirage comic turtles all wore red bandannas.

It really makes the people behind that whole thing look like such immature self-centered hypocrite assholes. Like a little brat kid who gets a new toy and shouts "Mine's better than yours!"

So nick corrected 4kids mistake, but now their fate is unknown, as Tiger claw owns them

Hmm i wonder if they add a DBZ refference and have the Turtles call Mirage Raph "b*** you sound like Goku"*

Thank you for doing this, I still remember watching Turtles Forever when it aired on TV and how bad I felt for the '87 turtles.
This actually makes me laugh, kinda want to give them a what for.

When I first saw this special I enjoyed it a lot, but after watching it a bit afterwards, it just lefted a bad taste thinking about it, I like all three animated incarnations of the turtles, but with this upcoming Episode I'm really looking forward to

Very very excited for that! I've only seen a short animatic clip on YouTube - but it gives me a good feeling that there'll be a lot more respect shown to the 80's team in this one. You see them actually fighting back, trash talking their 2012 counterparts AND displaying some competence!

Well bro, imagen if you work was watered down for kids by making your heroes turn into gumbots. That's what Mirage studios thought, so they made them stupid

Actually, it had to do more with Peter Laird suffering from penis envy. Murakami-Wolf-Swenson brought the turtles into the mainstream in a way Laird never could. And ever since, he's had a burning jealousy over Fred Wolf's larger dick. Rather pathetic if you ask me.

I'm gonna be straightforward....'Turtles Forever' was a total wad of PIGSHIT!!!
Even I could write dialogue for a probable sequel, and that'd be from somebody who's actually WATCHED the '80s TMNT show. As far as I'm concerned, the crappy 1987 TMNT from Turtles Forever are dead to me and that movie never actually happened or existed.

Yeah as I've mentioned below 'Turtles Forever' was such a wasted opportunity. Seemed like it existed purely for Peter Laird to say "Look - see how stupid the original series was? This one is so much better! Watch this instead!" At least the real '87 turtles got a respectable cameo and send off in the Nick series. That makes the pain of 'Forever' diminish slightly for me.

Guh, it was so obvious someone there hated the old turtles, they were constantly made to look ridiculous and get insulted a number of times by the 2003 characters. This "Special" would have been awesome if they kept them in character.

Anyway this gave me a good laugh! I like how you even considered the difference in the color tones used.

I know right?? They rarely showed their teeth in the old cartoon. It was done a little more in the first few episodes then pretty much non existent for the rest of the series. Phelous nailed the problems I found in it in his review.

Yeah, as much as I liked Turtles Forever, they REALLY exaggerated the '87 turtles. Especially when they decided to just walk down the street without disguises. I was like; "uh... they wore trench coats when they were outside. Yeah, it wasn't a very good disguise, but it was an effort."

Thanks for the comments everyone! Yes it's such a shame because Turtles Forever had a great story and was really well animated. Lots of effort clearly went into making it. But the script writers obviously had no idea what they were doing with the 80's characters. I doubt they actually watched the original show - which is unforgivable if you're meant to be making a crossover movie for the fans!
