Rebbachisaurus skeletal by palaeozoologist Rebbachisaurus skeletal by palaeozoologist
A preliminary skeletal of Rebbachisaurus garasabe. Possibly more material is known, this will likely have to be updated when Jeff Wilson's paper on Rebbachisaurus comes out.

Hi, great work with it unusual sauropod (specially in their back). :) By the way, I've seen a vertebra that maybe could belong to a rebbachisaurid, what do you think?: sta.sh/01fyma9geuir

Thanks! Very nifty, I did not know you could load docs to devianArt, is that a new feature??

Anyway, to answer your question, I find it very odd that  the vertebra lacks a pleurocoel, and rebbachisaurs are quite pneumatic, which makes me think a rebbachisaur identity is not likely. It looks vaguely similar to Haplocanthosaurus, meaning it is potentially a basal diplodocoid. This is a very haphazard guess on my part, though.

No, is not new... in the stash apparently you can upload many kind of files that you need. And in DA properly, I've seen that some of the people that posts literature uploads .pdf or .doc files. :)

And thanks a lot for the info. It is a fossil that I wished that have more attention, althought I understand that is only a fragment... well, a potential diplodocoid identity is fine for me, I've draw it previoulsy as a rebacchisaurid, at least it is not too different in the basic form.

Very interesting, did not know that about the stash.

You're welcome, although I'm not sure I was of much help with the identification of the vertebra. :(

Well, it's hard to tell from the angle of the photograph, but the pubis and ischium do not closely match the proportions or shape of other rebbachisaurs.

As I said, I am not shure... But I only have this picture and another one, but the other one is from a Futalognkosaurus... *shrugs*

Rebbachisaurs are more weird than I thought, with those tall backs and stuff.
