Hi Teresa, thanks for the nice comment, as always. last night I couldn't answer anymore because we had to go to the hospital for Caro. Long story short.

Friday Caro had problems with her left ear, Saturday it was pain and very red, also a part of her cheek just in front of the ear. Sunday was redder and more painful. Monday morning immediately called the doctor's post for an appointment, the first best opportunity was only coming Friday at 10.30. and she had to take indicated ear drops.

Monday afternoon we went to the Dentist for a semi-annual check-up that we had made 6 weeks ago, earlier was not possible. We didn't have anything that needed immediate attention, but the dentist didn't like the red swelling on her cheek, it was also visible in her gums.

he told us to call again for an appointment and tell the doctor that the swelling (infection) didn't look good. When we got home, Caro immediately started calling, and I went to bed (long covid nap). At 7 am I woke up and Caro hadn't succeeded because the phone was always busy. The red swelling had progressed to her forehead and under her eye to the nose in the 2 hours I slept. We have decided to contact the emergency department of the hospital directly throught the triagist without our doctor's referral. (so costs made not coverd by insurance).

We explained what we saw and had taken photo's for them, Emergency ward was overcrowed with people at that moment , so they gave us a schedule at for 21.30. Doktors of the emergency ward said in was a wide spread bacterial infection (bite of insect ?). Caro had to start take perscribed peniciline, but pharmacy of the hospital was closed (staffing), so they phoned to other hospitals, we could get the medication at an hospital in Haarlem 16km further.

We got Caro's medication, and got home after midnight. what a day!

We hear and read that the sick leave among medical staf is very high, overstressed, burn- outs etc., and as a consequence regular medical care is far behind due to the 2 years of covid.

We experienced yesterday how bad it was when you need medical attention.

Caro is asleep, i am doing the dishes , and take care for the cats (breakfast)

sorry for this writing Teresa, just have to get it out of my system, i was so angry yesterday.

greetz len.
