Prices are absurd what is asked and payed is so far above the real economical value for what it is mechanical and optically and the end product what it can produce, the images !

One can argue that the old version price is driven by the numbers made (only 1757) , versus the actual supply (5 at this moment) and demand on the market for collectors.

But the new copy of the F1,2 50mm Noctilux at 7000,- Euro, doesn't produce a 46 x better end product in images, then the new TTartisan F1,2 50mm at 150,- Euro !!

Both lenses are build upon old known designs, so in both cases no extensive labor consuming research and design is required and both have production facility's readily available.

Labor costs ? average German income is 42.000 a year, in China it is 11.5000, so not really an issue in relation to 46 times more expensive.

Then the endproduct, the images .

Ok, the Leitz are slightly better, but were talking in % here, since both are older desings.

Durability ? ok its a known fact that Leitz lenses mechanically are of an uncompromisingly high standard and wil last at least 46 years if cared for, TTartisan lenses are build by the feel of it to a (very) high standard, but only time will tell for how long they will function mechanically , since the company is just operating 2 years now.

Last but not least optically, noctilux has 2 aspherical lens elements, and the TTartisan has 2 ED lens elements, and yes the aspherical lens elements are about 4 x more expensive to produce, but still.

As a comparison the current Noctilux F0.95 50mm with Aspherical lens elements for Leica M costs 11.084,- euro, the TTartisan F0.95 50mm Aspherical for Leica M costs 949,- euro.

Thats still 12 x more expensive, same for the Leitz Summilux F1,4 50mm verus TTartisan copy.

I've been a leica addict for most of my life, and still enjoy their old lenses, but with the arrival of TTartisan and their APS-C and full frame lenses for the Leica M bayonet I would choose the TTartisans at this point anyway, the small difference in quality for a about a 1/12 of the price of the original in the worst case.

Out of the six lenses TTartisan produces for Leica M mount, 4 are aspherical like the original.

The small difference in quality versus the 10-fold in price has become unbridgeable
