Open Species update and more!

I wanted to do this right at the start of September, but day job stuff derailed it pretty hard and now this month is almost over. Wow.



I wanted to gently update that none of my adoptables are closed species now. You may create any concepts or characters inspired by them as you like as long as it isn't outright theft of someone's design.



I have many reasons for doing this, but it simply comes down to the fact that I never enjoyed the gatekeeping or managing of anything. It burns me out and I think it's just unfair tbh.



I have nothing against folks who want to continue making Closed Species. This is strictly a personal decision based on what I think is more fun overall!



So there you have it, you can make your own Giraffaroo or Hanafudog or whatever my concepts inspired you to make. I would like to see them too btw!

I consider September 2012 to be their actual birthday since it was the first time I ever sold a design. How time flies.

PROCESS

Drawn at 300dpi in a 14x17 inch canvas. When sketched, a preview is shown to the commissioner for any corrections. 
You'll be given the full and cropped version of the lineart. You may ask or tweak how you would like the crop to look like.
Tweaks are free in this stage. When the lines are done they are resized and positioned into a 8.5x11 inch canvas for coloring. 
Once colored, I'll ask for a $5 to $25 or higher depending on the piece or the amount work the change requires or details you might add.
You may suggest what pose, theme, déco and/or any amount of specific details it should have along with how your character should act/pose!
The finished image will be linked from a storage box like sta.sh or attached and sent via email as a jpeg file at 300dpi.

These are estimated prices. They may change due to your request! 
You may request your commission to stay private. Currently cannot record process due to lack of a video editing program.

BASE OFFERS

These offers are the minimum pay required!
Complexity or particular requests may change the price.

Simple
Little to no background or embellishments. Usually a washed out gradient for a background.
I can simplify the character to fit the criteria if you are interested in keeping it minimal.


Detailed
This means I'll go all out on any jewelry, flowers and character complexity.
Couples and/or specific backgrounds will fit this category if needed.



Notes and FAQ


Can I ask for an estimate even though your not taking commissions right now?
Sure thing! Send me an email or a note and I'll answer your questions.
I'd ask again if the prices change once I'm available again.

Can I use this art commercially and what royalty fees do you offer?
You need to state what you plan to do with it. Fees may change depending on what it's for.
It's usually between 200 to 500 usd! But personal use (icons, web display, personal décor) is free!

Can I request these to be nsfw and/or fanart?
You have to be a legal adult to be able to order nsfw, but yes to both.

Can I commission real people or for a character's likeness?
I'm not super confident in my ability to draw portraits of real people, but I can try.
There might be a higher price if you want me to capture their likeness, though.

Can you draw mecha, robots, complex machinery and vehicles?
Yes! It's not my forte, but with good reference I can draw a mechanical character and objects.

Are you able to draw younger characters?
I have to admit that this is my weakest point for any character that is a young adult or below.

I'm extremely particular about how people draw this character. Can I redline?
Yes, you can! I enjoy characters that have specific features.

Do you mind making many changes during the process?
The first few and the honest mistakes are free! I do charge for changes. 
So if you are ok with paying for changes, I'd be more than happy to comply.

DUES AND DON'TS


You can refund your slot in full in the first month of it being bought.
A colored drawing is all you need. It doesn't need to be clean. It can be a colored sketch.
Do not post your giraffaroo before buying a slot, your design must be approved after buying a myo.
Please do not copy/trace anyone's art for your design. Giraffaroo anatomy doesn't need to be exact!
You can always ask for assistance/commission someone else design it for you.
As always, don't hesitate to ask me for what's ok and not ok to have on your roo!

DESIGN INFO

The traits shown are the most commonly seen and some are actually new! 
Hair styles and hair type does not affect rarity. Please keep the style within manageable reality.
Back nubs or oddly placed nubs are considered between common and uncommon. 
Colors do not affect the price/rarity either. Nubs can be striped or not at all. Longer horns are rarer.
You can use smooth gradients only and no shininess. Shiny iridescence is an auctioned trait.
The larger and/or curvier the tusk the rarer they become. Having horns/tusks or none doesn't change rareness.
They only have rectangles as patterns running along the body or in certain areas. Usually the neck. 
The smallest markings are long enough to look like tiny squares, please avoid drawing spots.
This is the strictest rule. Anything that resembles stripes/spots/ect on the roo is illegal to keep.
You cannot mix blessed and cursed traits! They can be manipulated slightly.

TRAIT BASICS

Blue to turquoise are common.
Green, yellow to orange are uncommon.
Red to purple are rare.
Blessed traits are white.
Cursed traits are grey.
Traits are rarer the bigger and denser or odder they are. 
Breeds do not affect rarity!! Premiers are only available through auctions.

Prototype premiers who were turned into a more specific breed later down the line with permission. 
They are very young designs that didn't quite have the signature features of the species today.

Some may still change these back to what are known as premiers or keep them in their breed specific anatomy.

This gen is very much between prototype and joey breed. First time customs, too!
