GUIDELINES FOR POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTORS:
What is this?
This is a chance for all you writers out there to recount your own personal Pacific Northwest experiences for the rest of the world to read. We are looking for everything from restaurant reviews to narrations of actual adventures...in short, whatever your muse comes up with.
Submissions will be featured on the main page of the group for up to four days, and then also be referenced and available in archives. This is just another way to give people a small taste of the overall Northwest experience.
What we want...
Anyone who has seen or done anything in the Pacific Northwest worth sharing, we'd love to hear from. As the group evolves, there will be a monthly theme for specific submissions, but we will always be open to any other theme as well.
Examples of things we would love to read:
- Travel Logs
- Restaurant/Hotel/City Reviews
- True-Life Visitor Narrations (we want your perspective)
- True-Life Resident Narrations (yes, we want your perspective too)
What we don't want...
This is not a place for fiction. We're not looking for a fictitious story that just so happens to take place in the Pacific Northwest (for example no 'Twilight' fanfiction submissions...just because Forks happens to be in Washington does not qualify it for this group).
We are also not interested in taking on the job of being an editor or a beta for you. We don't expect you to be perfect, but your submissions should at least have a basic understanding of grammar and the English language.
Examples of things that we would probably reject:
- Fiction Stories
- Anything with poor grammar (it doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to be readable!)
HOW TO SUBMIT:
I. If you have written something to contribute to the group, copy and paste it into a note, and send it to the group. The title of the note should be: "Written Submission"
II. If you have already posted the written submission somewhere else on deviantart, in the body of the note you may also simply provide a link to the work itself.
III. At the top of the note, prior to the actual submission, please specify the general topic of your article, along with the specific location, if there is one, where it is based. (Please try to be more specific than simply saying the state of Oregon or the state of Washington whenever possible.)
IV. The staff will read your submission, and decide whether to approve it.
V. Once approved, we will let you know, and then you can expect to be featured on the general page of the group for four days; both your name and a link to your profile, along with the article itself. Your article will also then always be accessible in archives.
We look forward to reading what you submit! And of course if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us!
