Summary

Visual Guide Here!

Pacapillars are small insect-like creatures that resemble alpacas in stature. They are somewhat bigger than caterpillars, about the size of hamsters, and they are very energetic. Most will participate in social activities with other Pacapillars. They participate in racing and tussling but regular Pacapillars are not violent and so ‘fighting’ is purely for sport or entertainment. Pacapillars will never end up going through metamorphosis and will remain caterpillar-like forever except under very, very rare circumstances.
Pacapillars are not magic users but instead are magic holders meaning that any and all magic use is defensive or uncontrollable/subconscious. Pacapillars lack inner anatomy. They do not have blood or any organ systems. The only thing inside of them is the ‘essence’ their magic manifests in. This essence can be anything, any object or item, sometimes even sounds or ideas. In transparent Pacapillars, you can see what the essence is although it might be skewed or even altered past reality due to the complex systems within their bodies. It is essentially another dimension where they hold their magic and core.
A Pacapillar without a magic essence becomes a Hollo. Not a hollow Pacapillar but a Hollo. A Hollo is a dead shell of the former Pacapillar filled with a shadow substitute. A Hollo with a core is a terrible threat but a Hollo without a core is generally witless.
A Pacapillar can lose its magic essence from dying of unnatural causes or, by extremely rare circumstances, becoming a magic user. Regular Pacapillars are not fit to use their magic and will deplete their essence rapidly if they decide to do so. Pacapillars that decide to use their magic are seen as corrupt in many cases.

Physicalities

Body

General
The body will always be stubby and round. Pacapillars usually have 10 legs. They can have up to 14 but the usual amount is 10. Pacapillar bodies are able to curl up, bend, and squish in many expressive ways.
Head Feelers
Pacapillars will commonly have 1 or 2 sets of feelers on their head. It is upwards of uncommon for there to be more that two sets. Pacapillars must have at least 1 set of head feelers (unless mutated).
Feelers are generally round in shape and relatively short. Shaped head feelers are uncommon and lengthy head feelers are rare.
Tail Feelers
Pacapillars will commonly have 1 set of tail feelers. Anything more than that is upwards of uncommon. Pacapillars without tail feelers are rare. Pacapillars with one tail are mutated.
Feelers are generally round in shape and relatively short. Shaped tail feelers, unlike shaped head feelers, are common but lengthy feelers are still rare.
Cheek Nubs
Pacapillars commonly either have or do not have cheek nubs. One small round set of cheek nubs is common. Shaped nubs are usually uncommon and long nubs are rare. Multiple sets of nubs are rare depending on their placement.
Visual Guide
Brows
Pacapillars have distinct eyebrows for expression purposes. Eyebrows are commonly round. Certain shaped brows are uncommon to rare.
Visual Guide
Eyes
Pacapillar eyes are most commonly beady black eyes. Pacapillars have one set of eyes (unless mutated).
Visual Guide
Mouth
Pacapillars have one small set of insect-like fangs. Having more fangs is a rarity.
Texture
Pacapillars have many different textures.
Visual Guide
Other
Pacapillars can have other shaped extrusions on their bodies and a number of traits that fall outside of the parts listed above. These extras are considered rare or super-rare.
Visual Guide
Pacapillars can have any amount of accessories but just remember that they are very small so accessories should be sized accordingly.

Habitat

Visual Guide Here!

Pacapillars have many unique magical attributes, some of which are having the ability to form and maintain their own individual habitats. Pacapillar habitats are called nests! Nests for standard Pacapillars are cubic and can be made out of ANYTHING! literally anything- books, candy, lava, goo, ice, you name it! Generally a Pacapillar will form a nest out of materials that they resonate with.

Pacapillar nests will hover above the surface but not too high with just the magic power of one Pacapillar. Pacapillars won't be affected by gravity while in their nest so they can freely roam around it without worrying about falling. Nests can connect with one another into a colony. They work in segments. A large group of nests is called a cluster. Clusters act as cities and can hover much higher than singular nests. Clusters can be maintained by the Pacapillars that inhabit each nest module but clusters that become too large tend to fall apart and are difficult to maintain with standard Pacapillars alone.

Pacapillar sub-species add some diversity to habitat creation. Here are some variations of habitat interaction per sub-species:

Standard Pacapillars
Standard Pacapillars (this includes split mutated Pacapillars) can create their own nest. Nests are cubic and hover slightly above the surface.

Poison, Shell Pacapillars
Poison and Shell Pacapillars also create cubic nests and have a similar amount of magic power to standard Pacapillars.

Gilled Pacapillars
Gilled Pacapillars also create cubic nests and have a similar amount of magic power to standard Pacapillars but they tend to live in nests that are primarily water-based.

Monster Pacapillars
Monster Pacapillars do not have magic and cannot create nests the same way other sub-species do. Instead, they are natural hoarders and create nests out of whatever they find. Their nests generally don't hover unless they collect the dead cores of fallen Pacapillars. Monster Pacapillars are immune to Hollo disease due to their lack of magic and can generally defend themselves on the surface using brute force alone making them perfect lone wolves.

Winged Pacapillars
Winged Pacapillars rarely ever make their own habitats despite having the most magic power out of all the sub-species. They are able to travel far distances fairly quickly and easily and roam until they find a region or community they resonate with. If they choose to make their own habitat, which many do not, their habitat build will be in a different geometric pattern: a pentagonal dodecahedron. Their habitats would be built out of Chrysalis Crystal which is essentially their magic manifested in a physical form.
While they are perfectly capable of living on their own, Winged Pacapillars are drawn to other colonies with their natural calling to protect and nurture. Clusters benefit greatly with the help of a Winged Pacapillar. Winged Pacapillars can create Chrysalis Shards which can be placed in different key points in a cluster to stabilize it. Winged Pacapillars also extend the range that a cluster can grow and also allow the cluster to levitate far above the surface. Clusters guarded by a Winged Pacapillar are called Havens and Clusters that expand become Super Clusters.

Diet

Despite lacking anatomy that makes biological sense, Pacapillars still eat. They eat to replenish their magic essence. Everything they eat turns into magic energy which allows them to be as active as they are.
Pacapillars specifically eat sweet leaves and sweet berries. Sweet leaf seeds are so valuable because of that that they are used as currency.
Everything a Pacapillar eats will evaporate and form more magic essence to make up for any lost essence.
There are many other plants and fruits that grow in the Pacapillar world, some with or without magic attributes.

Activity

Pacapillars are very animated. Most are active during the day but very few will be nocturnal.
Pacapillars will often race one another and love to run. Races aren’t usually formal unless debating territory. Because of the casual spontaneous-ness of races, they’ll usually result in stampedes due to their inclusive nature.
Pacapillars also like to tussle. To tussle, Pacapillars get on their hind legs and attempt to knock over the other through light wrestling. If a Pacapillar loses a tussle, they will end up on their back unable to flip over without help. No Pacapillar gets injured from tussles though.
Some Pacapillars, although fewer, will not find interest in races or tussles and will act as show Pacapillars. Show Pacapillars usually have groomed textures.
Pacapillars have a variety of personalities which do not necessarily dictate the path they'll follow. Some will adventure, some will craft, some will perform, it's all up to the user.

Mutations 09/?? documented

Visual Guide Here!

Shedding - This mutation allows for Pacapillars to shed. Shedding is usually based off of a theme (like confetti or petals) and Pacapillars can leave trails of these materials when they run.
Slug Form - With this mutation, Pacapillars do not have legs but rather, a squishy slippery material that they can slide around on like slugs. They do not race or tussle as they are not able to but they are often very good show Pacapillars.
Single Tail - Instead of the regular minimum of two tail feelers, Pacapillars with this mutation will have one.
Split - At creation, if a Pacapillar’s magic essence is divided into three parts, so will its body. This mutation results in three smaller Pacapillars (each one-third the size of a regular one) that share the same conscious.
Animated feelers - Sometimes Pacapillars with too much magic will have feelers that move on their own. They’ll be animated not consciously but the feelers themselves do not have separate minds… or do they?
Multiple Sets of Eyes - Few regular Pacapillars, outside of certain sub-species, will have multiple sets of eyes. All are functioning and it's said that they have a better depth perception.
Multi-Texture - This mutation doesn't cause a combination or 'fusion' of textures but instead allows a Pacapillar to be two different textures on different parts of their body.
Pincers - Pacapillars with this mutation have one or more sets of pincers that replace their legs. They are able to climb much easier and latch onto things securely.
Color Change - Pacapillars with this mutation can freely change colors and sometimes even patterns. Some only have two presets to change to while others can create many different visuals on their body.
