Description
I recently had a BLAST visiting the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences with my boyfriend, where I got to see a pair of emerald tree boas! It was my first time seeing fossils, and those and the snakes were my favorite sections. These boas were the only non-local snakes, and I was thrilled to see them, as these and green tree pythons (a species that went through convergent evolution with emerald tree boas) are deeply beloved snakes of mine. I think they're so stunning to look at! Both were very relaxed in their beautiful enclosure, but this pictured one was the only one whose face the crowd could see, and it didn't seem to mind me lingering for a bit to get some pictures, of which this one ended as my favorite.
And let me tell you - the amount of joy I felt photographing an animal and getting results I was satisfied with. Animals really are what I truly want to focus on, but it's difficult when, because of disability, I can't really get out in nature, find them, and take photos. Even for this trip, I was largely in a wheelchair. But this museum was a great way to see animals without taxing myself too hard; I was very tired by the end of the day, as I walked to the best of my ability too, but it was entirely worth it to see such wondrous sights.
I hope you enjoy this photo! Stay tuned, I have one more snake photo that should be coming, and potentially a fossil shot if I can do what I want with it in post-production. No promises, though! Thanks so much for viewing, it feels amazing to actually have art to share again!
