Richard III of York, the last Plantagenet and scion of the House of York, the infamous King that fought and lost against Henry Tudor, who had a thin claim of the English Crown. He was depicted as a twisted man, trully a monster ever since Shakespeare's play, but the real Richard could be very well a different character; joust, a good tactician, a proficient administrator... Something that the Ricardians, ardent followers of the King, try to prove eagerly.

Here I depicted the King following his facial forensic reconstruction and the surviving copies of his portraits, that are thankfully similar to the forensic image. The King is depicted in the attire and robes of his most famous portrait in the NPG, but I added a purse, something very usual in the second half of XV, and a boar badge (his own) in the heavy golden necklace. I didn't draw his feet intentionally, because his body lacked them both, maybe because a previous building project that cut the King's feet.

His motto below: "Loyaulté me lie"; Loyalty binds me! And behind him the sun in splendor of the House of York combined with the White Rose.

Ah, King Richard III... who supposedly murdered his two young nephews so that he could get the English throne... What's your opinion of him?

I love the attire, the colors and textures. Your style reminds me of period illustrations from medieval europe! Keep it up!

That's something many have said to me in the past. Glad you like it. Nowadays I don't really like this one, however.

Well it has been discovered that most of the deformities Shakespeare's described on his play were false, and that his scoliosis only made one of his shoulders been higher.

Thanks a lot for leaving comment.

Oh! I'm sorry, I misunderstood you then, but hey! Thanks for commenting! And yes, poor old Richard! He is either loved or hated but nothing in-between it seems.
