Imperial diptych: John Tzimiskes and Basil II

Both artworks paired as a diptych, I though it was a nice idea. The border are from the imperial labarum used for the Bishop's of Bamberg burial (Gunthertuch).

Moreover such diptychs(and trichtips,atc..)really existed and were popular in Byzantine world.

A shame any imperial portrait or sculpture outside the few mosaic and miniature ones have survived. Imagine the equestrian statue of Justinian, hummm, hummm, amazing!
