Tutorial: Drawing a lion from imagination

I've been doing a lot of sketching from photos lately, but today I wanted to loosen up and draw just from imagination. By this I mean the pose and form of the lion was not inspired by any photos. Towards the final stages of the drawing I referred to taxidermy specimens and anatomy diagrams to render final details.

Do you like seeing the written instructions on the image here? Usually I let the images speak for themselves, but I ran a poll on Instagram and found that the majority of people were interested to see written captions on tutorials rather than just in the upload description.

Materials used: HB and 2B pencils, eraser, paper blending stump.
