Black Dress Chun-Li The piece
I've recently begun testing and playing around with Grayscale
and Gradient Mapping
. I've seen many artists in the industry swear by it, so I wanted to start getting the hang of it myself! (That and I haven't drawn Chun in forever)
This was my first attempt at it and I don't think it's too
bad. My first attempt was pretty bumpy, but as I went along, I started to see where I could improve my workflow and get faster with this. I still have much to learn with it but I can see how this can drastically improve your production speed. For your reference: Gradient Mapping
is when you start your entire illustration out in purely grayscale/values and then convert those values into color using the Gradient Map function in Photoshop. Then all that remains is processing and clean up.
