Two Pie are ... by OtakuSquirrel Two Pie are ... by OtakuSquirrel
I hit Pinkie with some paint. It's not the perfect shade, but I had this color on hand, and it was close... the paint could have been blue for all it mattered as the sculpt is destined to get damaged when I make the mold for it next week.

I also put her next to her Hasbro sculpted counterpart for comparison. =)

Edit! And please don't mind my silly replies if you leave a comment, it's been a long week at work and I'm a bit sleep deprived because I had a late day followed by an early day. Only one more day of work to go and I'll be on vacation for a couple weeks! Woo-hoo!

Go through my pictures in my Twilight gallery- I have a lot of work-in-progress photos for reasons... but the basics to do the sculpting are a hobby knife, clay, sandpaper and a pony.

Dude...people on DeviantArt, like you, make ponies SO much better than Hasbro does. HASBRO OWNS THESE PONIES AND CAN'T MAKE THEM LOOK DECENT LIKE THIS!?!?!?!

Do you do commissions? Because I would absolutely love one of these perfect ponies. Why doesn't Hasbro make them like this??? XD

My brother and I do take commissions for most of the ponies that I have kits for-- so long as I have a kit actually in stock that is. I've got info on my front page with prices and how to commission one-- if the pony you're after isn't listed there-- just ask, as most of the new sculpts aren't up there yet.

You need to seriously contact Hasbro and get them to sell your ponies. You could be rich..... RICH!

Something about protecting their intellectual property rights..l blah blah blah. The first lady I e-mailed seemed quite nice-- it was the legal dept that shut me down. Silly lawyers!

It's amazing how much something SO simple really changes the way these toys look. I would love to see if these hair and tail pieces could be color molded in a soft rubber or silicone for upgrades that need no painting.

I was toying with the idea of molding the pieces in color... but the type of resin I would need would be different and more expensive, and it would take a lot of time to figure out the correct color combination of pigments to get everyone looking right. It would also increase my labor quite a bit as I'd be mixing resin for only one pony at a time. Right now that basically means that it wouldn't be cost effective.

Too bad. Something in a soft rubbery like plastic would be bawss.

Pinkie's kit is going to be $15-- it'll include one raw cast each of her mane and tail. I still need to make her molds and such-- so it'll still be a short while before she's available.

I love how the fans do it better than the franchise.

Absolutely stunning, her hair is perfect! I didn't think it was possible for Pinkie's hair to exist in a 3D world but you have done it flawlessly!

LOL! It took much experimentation, but I have to give Fyre-Flye and the animators a lot of credit for making character designs that can actually translate pretty well into 3D!
