Well, I'm also slow-- which is why I take forever to finish a single sculpt. ;)

=) Thanks! Rarity was pretty fun to do, but Fluttershy caused me no end of problems trying to get her mane perfectly smooth and such, and even then, the mold I made for her came out somewhat bad so her kit always needed the most work out of any of them.

No probs!

Fluttershy's mane might have gave you problems, but the ending results are simply marvelous, Hon! :iconrarityishappyplz:

What do you use to make the hair molds?

Any kind of clay or something?

I use sculpey (regular original variety) for the actual sculpting, then I make silicone molds and cast them in resin (plastic)...

LOL! Well, I'm working on the molds for Fluttershy as we speak-- and she'll hopefully be available by the end of the week; I'm not exactly going to be shy about announcing her availability. Drop me a note when you're ready to place an order. ;)

I am going to be taking some commissions soon so I can get the money to pay you for them! I've had a Fluttershy and Rarity sitting on my desk for months now, and seeing your photo here of them makes me want to see them like this too. ;3; I'm super excited.

Well, I best quit procrastinating and try to put together that last mold box for Fluttershy's mane... I'm sort of avoiding the math for figuring out how much goo to mix... and math is one of my strong points. =p

Well I am super excited ok. my favorite poniesssssss. ;-;

Also, I am curious if you have any kind of a policy on OC ponies? do you do them? or consider it?

I consider anything if someone slaps me across the face with a wad of cash. LOL!

Seriously though, OC sculpts would be hard for me to sell to the general public, so the cost of the materials and time I put into one of these sculpts would be focused almost completely onto the requester. The price I would have to charge would be very restrictive to most people out there.

If I decide to do one on a whim (I'm making one for Sibsy for example) it's because it's something that I decided would be fun, and because it's also something that I would like in my own collection.

That makes complete sense! I am not even sure if I would want a custom one... I don't have any pony OCs at the moment, (but i might soon...<_<) and your work is really awesome.

How much time do you usually spend making these? :U

The sculpting takes the longest-- The first three (AJ, Twilight and Rarity) averaged a bit over a week each to finish. The others took longer because I was building molds and casting and starting to sell the resin casts at the same time. I've been doing this two months now and I've managed sculpts for 5 characters-- if that helps put it into perspective.

Perfect, this may be the first kit I buy if I can find a Fluttershy in my area, all the stores around me just have an abundance of Raritys or Pinkie Pies.

We've got a lot of Pinkie Pies and Twilights in my area... I'm actually buying Raritys when I find her because she's white, which makes for a good bait pony. Now if only more Blossomforths would show up... and I'm frothing at the bit to get Plum Sweet!

I'm hoping to have Fluttershy kits by the end of the week. That's banking on having everything go right without any hiccups. I'm still not sure where I'm going to price her though... besides needing larger molds (requiring more silicone mold goo) she's got *a lot* of hair, and will probably take almost twice as much resin as the other kits...

well i was looking at that, and to be honest i was expecting the flut kit to be double of the others, mainly because of the cost of the molds, I actually think it would be quite fair to me for that to happen. I still hope you're going to do a cheerilee one eventually too. I doubt they'll ever do that pony with molded hair

I agree, I don't see Hasbro giving her the sculpted hair treatment... I'm not even sure the other three main characters will see that... But yeah, Cheerilee is on my to-do list. If a pony, such as her, has an actual toy made of them, it means that there is going to be a much bigger market for the kit I make...

The idea of prepping the kit already scares off a lot of potential customers because they don't know how to use a knife, putty and paint. When you add in having to repaint a whole pony and then repaint eyes and a cutie-mark, it's a very small market that's left.

there is a pony of cheerilee in the same size as the ones you make kits for, although she has the G3 cutie mark. There are 2 kits over here in europe, a schoolhouse with cheerilee and some weird picnic set. but it uses the same format the ponies you have here. so it would literally be a case of hair removal and put the kit on.
