Hey! So. I went and opened up a Society6 shop and Artist Shop through Threadless. I don't have many designs up just yet but plan to add more. There's a whole bunch of items available with what I do have though! Shirts, bags, towels, curtains, blankets, phone cases, mugs, etc!

I've also added a couple things to my Patreon. The first being a goal, that if I meet, means I'll work on an actual factual personal project. Likely a visual novel type deal, but we'll see! Maybe. The second thing is a new reward tier that grants access to a Discord Server I made, so if you've ever wanted to hang out with a particularly average person now's your chance!

Hey guys, I'm gonna be out of commission a while. No commissions or the like. Recovering from a couple major surgeries. They went great but I have to take care of myself and heal at this point.
Hiya! This is just an obligatory post that serves to A) remind people that I have a Patreon and B) that I have changed up some of my rewards there!

If you want access to PSDs of my art or the line art those are now rewards on my Patreon. For line art I'm okay with people coloring it or even posting it so long as they give credit to me for the lines. :)

I accept Paypal, checks, and Venmo. At least half of the payment must be made up front before I start work on your commission. Anyone interested in a commission may note me here on DA or email me at Otakatt at gmail.com. I very much recommend the latter as I check my email far, FAR more frequently than I check DeviantArt.

If, for whatever reason, I am not 'allowed' to post any commission I do that will incur an extra $10. This is because posting commissions I do is a form of advertising, and frankly it does kind of suck to work a long time on something and end up with nothing to show for it on my gallery. This fee does not include simply delaying posting a commission for whatever reason, and is only if I can *never* post it.

Fine Print:
*Addition of background and/or complicated props may cost extra depending on complexity.
*Additional characters cost will vary depending on what type of commission you're getting.
*If there's something in my gallery that catches your eye that I don't have a price listed for, that doesn't mean I won't do it! It just means I overlooked it when doing pricing. Feel free to note me here or email me about it.
Purchasing a commission means that:
- I must always be identified as the original artist. There's never a circumstance that makes it okay for anyone to take credit for my work.
- You may display the art however you see fit; personal websites, galleries, avatars, printed to be hung on your wall, etc.
- You man NOT profit off my art, commercially. If you're looking to use my art to profit that's a whole other can of worms that requires contracts and payment discussions.
Hi hi peeps! Today I have a favor to ask of you.

I've been wanting to improve at art, but sometimes we kinda become blind to our own work. We lose sight of where we could improve, what we're already doing well, etcetc. Honest feedback and critique is fantastic at countering this! People being openly honest about such things isn't as easy as it sounds, however, as I get that people don't want to hurt feelings even if what they're saying is well intended. So what I ask is that if you've a spare moment or two to go to my tumblr and use the ask function to give ANONYMOUS feedback about my art. I'm pretty sure you don't even need an account to do this.

You can do that right here: otakatt.tumblr.com/ask

You can be completely honest and I won't be able to trace it back to you, assuming you don't goof and forget to check the anonymous box if you're logged in of course. Hate the way I draw a particular body part and you've never wanted to bring it up? Do it here! Something in particular you want to see more of but you've not wanted to mention it for whatever reason? Go ahead and do so now! I seriously am encouraging you to be completely honest about how you view mah arts.

I'm posting this on my patreon, facebook, and tumblr as well so if you're worried about me somehow tracing something back to you if you post, don't. :)
Closing commissions for just a wee little bit, save for the ones I'm currently working on, so I can hash out some new policies and price points.
Due to computer issues I'll be unreachable for a little bit. Have to send off video card for repairs or replacement, and without one I can't use computer at all in the meantime. Just posting this as a heads up.
I am reopening commissions! In doing so there are three major changes that will be taking effect. These changes are meant to make things more fair for myself and commissioners alike.

Pricing
Yes, my prices have increased. I realize that some people may be unhappy about an increase in price but I ask that you please keep in mind the time and effort that goes into artwork. A person takes time to create it, and that person's skills did not develop overnight.

Upfront Payment
This is something I've been lax on in the past, but no more. Everyone, yes everyone, will pay upfront in full. I understand that there may be some trepidation an artist will take the money and run, but please understand I have that fear myself that someone may take my work and run without paying. It has happened to me before, and it's not a good feeling. If you want to be sure I understand what you want I can provide you a rough sketch, but payment will be required before I go beyond that step.

Commission Slots
This is subject to change down the line, but as of now I will only be taking three commissions at a given time. This may not sound like many but 95% of the time I don't have many commissions to do. However at the end of last year I received many commissions around the holidays and I took them all on. This left me overwhelmed and this meant people had to wait longer than they should have for their commissions to be completed. Limiting my workload is more fair to paying customers, I feel, as they won't have to wait as long and will receive their commissions more promptly.

I've talked about Patreon before but wanted to post an update here about some changes I've made in how I do things.

The first change is that starting in March I'm stopping the pledge/per picture and shifting to a pledge/per month. It's just so much better that way for everyone involved. I've also updated rewards for Patrons. One example being that if someone wants to pledge 5$ a month they get 5% off commissions!

I've also started adding some Milestone Goals. The first Milestone is when I hit 100$/month. (Currently sitting at 59/month) I have a lot of people ask me if I'd do a request for them so when the first Milestone of 100$/month is met I will start a Monthly Patron Request. That is when *anyone* pledging at least 1$/month can make an art request. I will then gather the requests and use random.org to pick one at random. :3 I figure that can be a nice little bonus for people kind enough to support me and mah arts.

All Patreon information can be found on my Patreon page: www.patreon.com/Otakatt
:iconpeachsnaps: wrote a really great blog post about supporting artists, musicians, and content creators! She talks about the amazing sites that are available to use currently and it's worth a read if you want to find a new and creative way to support yourself, or if you're wanting to support someone yourself!

This is a thing I have to do for my own sanity, sorry guys! It might not look like I'm doing a lot right now, but the majority of commissions I'm currently working on are private commissions, so they can't be posted. But I have been doing a lot more commissions than usual (and I'm grateful for them!) and I'm not used to the workload and keep taking more but I reeeally need to stop doing that for a bit. ^^;

From here on until I finish my current commission load I will not be taking anymore. If I've already agreed to do something for you, even if you haven't already paid for it, this does not affect you and of course I'm still doing your commission! :)

I just need to play catch up and finish the things I have now. One person in particular has been *insanely* patient with me. So it's more fair for everyone if I stop taking more commissions to finish up what I have now.
Commissions are open again! Some changes have been made and more information can be found here.

In the case that you want to profit commercially off my art (prints, t-shirts, etc) you will need to pay more for the rights to do this. That will be worked out on a case to case basis, rather than me trying to attach a single number to such a thing.

Things I WILL NOT draw:

Halo!

So I was kinda absent. Sorry! I am still kicking and breathing over here. And as you can see from recent uploads, still doing the art thing. Been catching up on commissions and also trying to make time to do things I enjoy so I don't completely burn out. Sometimes I post things to Tumblr I don't post here, or sometimes I post there first before posting here. If you weren't aware of it, here it is~ otakatt.tumblr.com/

Regarding commissions - my last post I made ages ago about a sale is pretty much moot at this point - this is just making it official. ^^; I have plans to go over my prices again soon and adjust them if I find it necessary. But that's not what this entry is about. I'm writing because I wanna talk about Patreon.

Patreon is a site that has recently launched that allows creative-type people to be paid for the content they produce. Art, music, videos, etc. I liken it to a micro-kickstarter. People pledge an amount, usually small, per thing of content someone releases. With more people doing that, it adds up - plus there are incentives created by the content creators for their patrons! It's a really awesome system and I seriously think the person who came up with it had an amazing idea.

Doing commissions is great and all, but admittedly it's easy to get burned out on doing art if I only do commissions, or don't find time to do things I enjoy. So I launched a Patreon page in the hopes of getting a little support for doing art I enjoy, and that others seem to enjoy! If you become my Patron I will be so grateful to you, and if you cannot simply spreading the word helps *so much*. If you think I'm doing a terrible thing then please share your concerns here <3. In all seriousness, if you have an actual criticism or idea for the reward tiers and amounts please share those with me! I'd like to make it worthwhile for people to become my Patron, but I'm sadly not being very creative in coming up with rewards...

Anyhoo, I've rambled enough. You can find my page here! ---> www.patreon.com/Otakatt

Thanks so much if you've read this far! <3

Manga Studio 5!

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 16, 2012, 10:15 PM

I recently picked up Manga Studio 5, which is awesome. The downside is I have to use it and adjust to it before I become wholly productive with it. If art quality declines, please be patient with me. ^^

For commissions I'll still be using SAI until I'm comfy with MS5 - so no worries on that front!

NaNoDraMo, Collabing, Critiquing, and Derping

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 5, 2012, 2:06 AM

I made a tumblr a while back but never really bothered sharing it since I used it twice and just kinda ditched it. Commitment ftw! However I started partaking in NaNoDraMo. Rather than clog my DA with whatever I end up sketching, I opted to clog my new tumblr with it instead. So if you're interested at all in checking that out you can do so here:

:bulletred: Otakatttumblr!

I also made a facebook. It's not getting much use now since I'm awful at social networking, but if nothing else I got the name, so yay?

:bulletred: Otakatt on teh Facebooks!

I really wanted to share a couple sites I've been participating at recently that are way awesome. First is this one:

:bulletred: Sycra.net/forum!

Sycra is an artist that does really helpful videos for artists on YouTube. Not only that but he created some forums that artists can go to for critique. You can post a 'sketchbook' for comments and feedback or post to the Critique This! forum which is pretty active. It's not a huge community but that's one of the appealing aspects to me. It's like a much less intimidating ConceptArt.org, IMO. I know DA has the "critique" system, but it's a joke.

As for the other site:

:bulletred: Collab!

Tired of the bullets yet?

It was created by a member of the aforementioned site and is used for artist to post art so they can collaborate with each other. Super awesome if you like doing that sort of thing!

  • Watching: Diamanda Hagan Reviews
I just checked my messages and saw that someone anonymously gifted me a 3 month membership to DA. So thank you very much to whoever did that - it was very kind and sweet of you to do so. :)
