Not sure if works in photoshop, but it does in GIMP: change a colour to the alpha (IDK how it's called in english, that's the exact translation from dutch). If you choose white, it erases everything that has white in it :P (So everything that's grey becomes black with a lower opacity)

do you use pencil sketch or pen to scan your picture in photoshop? cause i use pencil sketch to scan and use another way to make it a linear without using pen tool or blushes.

You don't have to create a selection from an inverted layer in GIMP, just use Colors>Color to Alpha

Reply
:iconorpheelin:
Orpheelin Featured By Owner Aug 23, 2011

Woooooooooow, I woulda never thought of this, amazing! :D Definitely gonna test this out on my sketches, it seems so quick and easy. I always made things too difficult and complicated and it never comes out that clean.

After I created an inverse layer, I was unable to do step #4 because it was 'greyed out.' My photoshop wouldn't let me select 'Load Selection.' Do you think you could tell me what I did wrong? Thanks!
