..and I'm ever so grateful for that! :)
I honestly feel a bit lonely on DA lately, I'm getting less and less comments and stuff, almost feel like I'm doing something terrible wrong :P (but I think it's happening to others as well, people generally seem to leave less comments on DA)

Well, I believe there are many reasons behind it. I noticed that since there are more social art websites, people have more than one account and doesn't have much time to spend in a single one. Also since dA put their anti spam tool to work. you can't copy paste comments like "It's great!" or "Very nice!"more than a few times. I can't even thank everyone at once for a :+fav: without having to log out, erase my cookies and then sing in again. The final reason is that being a social site, unless you are an extraordinary artist or draw things people love to see, you have to participate watching and commenting others or people will just ignore you. Did you know artists working on Disney, videogames and Cartoon Network have accounts in dA but since they just submit work and never answer back, people tend to ignore them. I always watch back when someone watches me and I see all deviations they post but I only find the time to comment around 20 or 30 each day. I used to comment on almost every single one but I can't anymore and in exchange I also lost comments on my works.

You're probably right. I'm on this page for quite some time now (8 years), but I definitely feel a difference to when there were less social websites (after all, people also start to use Facebook and others as their platform for art). Also DA is quite old for a webpage - it's quite normal that a page of this age has it's climax at some point and lose some interest afterwards (which it can build up again with the necessary changes).
As for comments: I also reply to each comment I get, I even try to give more than a simple "thank you" back. I unfortunately don't comment as much as I would love like on others artworks and when I do, I feel a bit disappointed that most artists just ignore that comment (don't say anything back), even though I always try to write more than a simple "that's awesome" (not that this is bad in any way, but I think the artist may feel more appreciated when I write more than that.)
I actually didn't know about that spam tool, that really sucks... :| (Blank Stare)
Unfortunately I also have no chance to write a comment for every deviation, I'm watching more than 1200 people after all ^^

I watch over 1000 people too. No idea how it get there (I do) :XD:

Yeah, I hate when people never answers back. That's why I took the decition of stop watching them. I follow some amazing artists but I give priority to those more active and talkative.
