Description

Part of my Tempus Fugit series. To me this represents the temporary nature of mankind's work compared to nature.

My friend returned from Switzerland with a sketch of the Jungfrau mountain. I thought the landscape would have appealed to Van Gogh. This is my attempt to envision what he might have created had he been there. The buildings and the horse-drawn cart are borrowed from existing Van Gogh paintings and "transplanted" into this landscape.

This image is made using Photoshop. It's a pastiche, meaning it imitates Van Gogh. In fact I rearranged pieces of a number of his paintings into this new scene.
